The Chairman of Suleja local government area of Niger State, Honorable Ahmed Dikko and Vice Chairman have been suspended on allegations of financial misappropriation, acts of misdeeds, high handedness and lack of respect of the integrity of the council legislature.
Chairman of the Suleja Legislative Council, Abdullahi Abubakar who notified the Niger state House of Assembly of the decision of the Council said the Chairman and Vice Chairman are to remain suspended for three months until the investigation is completed.
Abubakar called on the state Assembly to prevail on the state government to uphold the decision and appoint the Speaker of the Legislative council as the acting Chairman of the local government until the suspended chairman is cleared of the allegations leveled against him.
Speaking after the sitting, the House Minority Leader and the member representing Suleja constituency, Honorable Shuaibu Iya explained that the matter was exhaustively discussed during the executive and legislative sessions of the Assembly and the Assembly have advised the state government to uphold the decisions of Suleja legislative council.
He said that the government was also urged to constitute a three man committee to thoroughly investigate the allegation.
