Drawing to a close, the responsibility of sustaining the gains of Governance now rests on careful, thoughtful, and principled decisions especially in the selection of candidates under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),recent developments, including the convergence of aspirants and the collective adoption of consensus as a mode of candidate selection, signal a commendable commitment to unity and party cohesion. However, consensus must not become a euphemism for compromise at the expense of merit. Rather, it should elevate credibility, reward loyalty, and reinforce fairness.
The recent consensus at the national level is a clear indication that the ADC is united as a party,Nowhere is this more critical than in the selection of a flag bearer of the State.
Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo is only politically strategic but symbolically significant. as a representative from the Southern.
Southern zone comprises of five Local Governments of Awe,Doma,Lafia,Obi and Keana as well hosting the State capital, it demands a representative of uncommon capacity, tested leadership, and demonstrable grassroots impact.
One name continues to resonate with clarity and conviction,Distinguished Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo,The Ciroman Doma,the political Journey of Onawo is not one built on chance, but on courage, performance, and an unmistakable connection with the people.
His rise did not stop there. By 2019, he had not only consolidated his political base with an even wider electoral margin but also ascended to the position of a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, starting as the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly,to the Federal House of Representatives representing Awe/Doma// Keana Federal constituency.
From the onset, he has demonstrated a rare understanding of representation. At a time when many state legislators remained confined within the narrow limits of their mandates, he broke boundaries, facilitating Federal appointments, securing opportunities for youth, and investing heavily in education.
The most striking was his ability to attract empowerment intervention worth millions, an initiative that benefitted hundreds through the distribution sewing machines ,laptops,Industrial machines,modern camera, vocational tools and cash.
This was not merely Governance, it was innovation within limitation. His consistent support for youth participation, his responsiveness to the needs of the underserved, and his deliberate efforts to expand opportunities beyond traditional expectations have set him apart as a leader of foresight and action.
As permutations ahead of 2027 suggest a possible concentration of key positions in Nasarawa South (possibly the Gubernatorial and senatorial candidates), it becomes imperative to ensure a fair distribution of political seats.
The people of Nasarawa South under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) deserve a representative who not only understands their struggles but has proven capacity to address them.
