Hon. Francis Orogu, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party has expressed shock over the involvement of the new Bursar of the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia in an N20million financial scam barely one year in office.
Chairman of the opposition party frown at the recent revelation involvement of the Bursar whom he said was the governor’s nephew.
He insisted that the corrupt Bursar should be prosecuted, PDP Chairman also accused the State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for running the State as his family empire for the detriment of quantum unemployed youths.
Orogu says Nasarawa State youth were exposed to unemployment while the governor’s families are leaving in affluence and his country home of Kwandare benefited from key projects worth N25bn in barely eight years.
Al-Makura on assumption of office appoint his Cousin as Registrar, College of Education, Akwanga, his nephew was appointed Bursar, Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, one was appointed at the Nasarawa State Muslims Pilgrim Welfare Board, his in-law was appointed the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board.
“The worst of all was that the dust raised now is the appointment of his brother as the Chairman Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) while the good things our children deserve was appointing them as members of the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme of the Nasarawa State government.
“Even some of our hapless graduates were given the chances to be sanitary officers and traffic warden moving around with horrible uniforms”.
Francis Orogu further averred that the Chief executive in his eight years in office favored a section of the State which was his immediate community, Kwandare, above any order inhabitants including the State Capital.
“Al-Makura is building an Eldorado in Kwandare while the majority of communities have not felt the dividends of democracy yet”.
According to him, “the good projects he spread to the people of Nasarawa South senatorial district was the establishment of cattle ranches in virtually all Alago towns.
“The governor cited cattle ranches at Doma, Assakio in Lafia, Obi, Keana, and Awe”.
They are exhibiting to us that other tribes do not deserve good things of life.
The party Chairman sympathizes with the 7000 youths disengaged from the service of Nasarawa Local Government, as he said the incumbent governor under the APC has no better plan for the youths.
