The Za’ar Sayawa Socio-cultural group, Za’ar Development Association (ZDA) Borno state chapter has disclosed that its members have over the years coexisted peacefully with their host communities and other Tribes in the state.
The Chairman of the Borno state chapter of the Association, Simon Moses Timi who stated this during its annual cultural festival in the state at weekend, noted that the occasion was celebrated to show gratitude to God for seeing them through farming season.
Timi who said ZDA Borno was established in April 1983 lamented that the aged-long Boko Haram crisis has made some of his kinsmen fled to other states.
According to him, he was compelled to in 2013 to reschedule the meeting days of the Association as a result of frequent attacks in the state capital.
“The meeting was suspended for almost one year which affected the turnout of members while some relocated to other states”, he decried.
Timi said however that, “because of our determination and doggedness, we, the few that endure the difficult situation stayed back, and that forms part of the reasons why we are celebrating today”.
While recalling that the festival recorded a massive turnout in 2019, the Chairman pointed out that the existing ZDA in Borno had maintained a good relationship with her host communities, including Ngas. Afizere, among other tribes.
“I must appreciate my Branch Chairmen for standing with the state leadership all along and for contributing meaningfully to the development of the association.
According to Timi, the outstanding performance of Borno state chapter and that of its branches is what has kept the Association in the state top among its peers in the National list.
The Chairman who thanked all the guests and members of the Association for honoring the event boasted that the National leadership of the Association cannot easily forget Borno branch due to its contribution to the development of zaar Nation.
In his speech, the Ngolong Ngas of Borno State Mr. Hezekiah Y. Goshit prays for peace, unity, and respect for his people’s cultural diversity and religion so that our land will be developed. It
