ZDA Election: Galla’s Many Sins That Might Work Against His Second Term Ambition

Ayuba Mafi

As the tenure of the current Za’ar Development Association (ZDA) Nationwide executive council nears expiration, there are indications that the incumbent president who is seeking re-election might not likely stage to come back the second term.

Expectations are high among Za’ar sons and daughters that Mr Linus Jacob Iliya is jostling to replace the president of the Association, while Engineer Isuwa Galla is working hard and will stop anyone from taking his position in the forthcoming election.

Some analyst conversant with the culture and tradition of Za’ar people believes that engineer Galla stands a better chance of winning, been the incumbent but postulated that there are seemingly many factors that might work against him.

In an interview with Universal Reporters a former personal adviser to the ZDA president, Mr Ayuba Sarki Jnr said he was prompted to resign honorably because Galla has failed to fulfill their campaign promises.

According to him, they promised during the electioneering campaign to foster unity among Za’ar sons and daughters but three years has gone down the drain without achieving it.

He said that the president has not been listening to his advice ever since he became the president of the Association.

Sarki accused the president of succeeding in creating division among the Zaar youths, having an only interest in divide and rule tactics which has never been witnessed in the history of the leadership of the association.

“The election is going to be moral value and immoral value. As his former PA, I know that we only have two candidates, one Mr. Jacob Linus Iliya and the other one is Engineer Isuwa Galla who is the occupier of the seat”, he said.

Sarki who described Linus as the best candidate for the position for whom he will vote boasted that the majority of the voters will toe his path.

Corroborating a stakeholder, Emmanuel Yakubu Magani commended the current occupier of the seat for the complition of ZDA Secretariat which has over the years defied solution.

He however said that the achievement, though a good one but is not tangible enough to give him the second term.

Emmanuel who said he supported and voted for Engineer Galla during the previous election noted that as a result of the inability of the president to create unity among sons and daughters of Zaar, he has since withdrawn his support for him.

“There was a crisis among the youths in Za’ar land and he quickly took the case to court instead of resolving it as an internal crisis, it was very unfortunate”, he said.

According to him, it took a very long period for him to withdraw the case from the court after a lot of pressure was mounted on him.

Similarly, Mr. Folmi Michael, the current chairman of Taraba branch of the association, said all those contesting for the office of the president have a mission to bring development to Zaar land.

He said that the incumbent president has contributed immensely towards bringing development to Zaar land by compliting the building of the ZDA Secretariat.

Folmi however said despite that, the majority of the members of the association are yearning for a change of leadership by replacing him with Mr. Linus.

“He should be replaced with another person who is more competent, that is Mr Linus who was able to create Za’ar cooperative society in Lagos state, a development that the current president could not do”, Folmi pointed out.

He opined that if Mr. Linus can achieve that feat in Lagos with limited resources while he served as Chairman Lagos branch of the association, he could do much if elected as the President Nationwide.

“So, there is a clear indication that this is the kind of man that we want because he can be trusted in terms of financial transparency and accountability if giving mandate”, Folmi said.

In a telephone interview with Mr. Bukata Ayuba from Kaduna State, said that the current president engineer Galla did the wonderful job done during Lemb Za’ar Festival in 2008 and it was Among the best festival in the whole history of Za’ar land.

He further said that along the journey the president take the side in his administration also stopped listening to the advice of Za’ar chiefdom, the council of elders, and youth in the land.

” In the forthcoming election I personally know only one candidate that’s Mr. Linus Jacob Iliya and others,” said Bukata.

On the contrary view another member who does not want to reveal his name said that in administration everybody has his style of leadership so I cannot say that engineer Isuwa Galla failed because if look carefully since his inception into power he changed the structure of the ZDA Secretariat to new modern and some developmental project.

“Concerning the November election, I will not say anything about that but to whoever the Almighty God have destine let his will be done in the forthcoming election”.
