We Will Revert To Table Payment For Local Government Workers- Al-Makura

BELLO TUKURGovernor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has attributed the dwindling of the federal grant accrued to the state as the reason for the inability of the state to pay Local Government civil servants their two months’ salary, the governor opened up while briefing stakeholders of the party at the Shendam road Government House yesterday. He affirmed that the state government would revert back to table payment so as to block all leakages in the payment of staff.

The governor expressed worry over the rising spate of phantom workers in the list of Local Government workers as a means of defrauding the third tier of government..

“Almost 500 million goes to primary school Teachers salary and this was from Local fund, the governor sympathises with workers at the third tier of government over the problems they are facing for the past two months.

Calling on Local Government chairmen in the state to accord impetus to Internally Generated Revenue, saying boosting IGR would go a long way in augmenting the lean resources accrued to the state. He further said the crisis surrounding the delay in the payment of two months’ salary of Local Government workers is beyond his power as a governor.

In another development, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has warned developers in the state to abide by master plan or risk demolition, He stated while commissioning the newly completed office of the Nasarawa Geographic Information System (NAGIS) at the state ministry of Land and Survey along Jos road.

“Sticky moment awaits those violating master plan by building along waterways, pipeline, high tension, drainages and trespassing Government Reserved Area.

The governor while reacting on a phone in programme during a Media Chat at the state owned media house, the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service said that he only execute projects at the state capital, The shed more light on the string of success recorded in the last four years to the construction of township and rural roads, He listed some of the rural roads to include;

Umaisha—-Kogi state road

Nasarawa—Ara road

Sabon Gida—Karshi road

Ancho——Angwan Zaria road

Garaku—-Yelwa .

He however hinted that the current administration has established scores of Primary Health Care in almost 720 locations cut across the state

“As we came on board majority of the PHC are in comatose” He added.

“We donated 140 motorcycles to PHC in the state as a way to boast the morale of workers
