tanko-almakura-channelsGovernor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has stated that a whooping N271m was expended annually on the registration of free National Examination Council (NECO), this money accumulated to a whooping N1.8bn naira from 2011 to 2015, the governor stated that the free NECO registration embarked by the state government was to ameliorate the suffering faced by parents.

He read riot act to heads of schools in the state to turn a new leaf by abiding to the new education policy or face sanction for extorting money from parents and Guardians alike.

“We registered over 40,000 students for NECO examination “Speaking on this year’s theme of Children’s Day Celebration “Violence Against Children “He challenged Parents, Guardians, Principals and Teachers to shun violence act against children.

Blaming the nation’s leaders on the rising spate of violence against children in the country, he ascribed under feeding in public boarding schools as a reason. He also compelled parents to pay school fees and NECO registration fee as he said denying students from writing NECO examination also causes violence against children.

The governor also assured the people of the state of his renewed commitment to enhance the standard of education; he opined that the free education policy has come to stay in the state.

But further findings revealed that majority of principals are sabotaging the effort of the led-administration.
