Water Scarcity: Residents To Stage Protest In Bauchi By Masoyi Lusa, Bauchi

Youths in Bogoro LGA of Bauchi state have said, there is no going in their decision to stage protest following persistent water scarcity in the headquarters of the council

The group under auspices of concern Bogoro Youths forum made the explosive statement while briefing selected newsmen said; persistent water scarcity has retarded development in the area

Mr Solomon Gabi leader of the forum reiterate that there is no going back in its struggle to address water scarcity in the entire LGA saying water supply problem remain a serious concern since the inception of the present administration

“We are tired of water scarcity after failed promise by the government because our people now had to trek distances to fetch

Water in spite of the present democracy which we expects more dividends” said Gabi

The forum stress that since the inception of the council, government appears to have neglected to arrest the decimal of water scarcity which is a recurrent one without permanent solution

Apart from water, the youths describe poverty as cancer among the teaming population and attribute same to lack of government attention when unemployment rate is a major concern in the area

According to them several plea through various groups to the council has not yield any fruitful result thereby causing serious untold hardship among residents of the area

Gabi who was furious on the development threaten that the youths may not have other option than to vote the ruling party in the state out of power   if it fails to restore water supply ahead of the March election

Hitherto there  is  no gain saying that Bogoro have been voting the PDP since the advent of democracy but it’s regretting that the area has been culpably neglected with absence of government presence

” We want to categorically state that come March election  the youths are ready to resists any  attempt to scuttle democracy desperate to vote credible candidates regardless of political inclination  because our problems has been that of lack of  sound      representative from the council including stakeholders serving with state government” Gabi fumed

The forum thundered that there is no room for hide and seek game in democracy as it involves a game of cash and carry explaining that  votes cast  will determine the future of our people come March election  as we cannot allow our selves to be  deceive any more

The forum also lament that under current administration of Yuguda the area has been bedevils by precarious security challenges where lives and properties worth millions were destroyed yet till date government has not compensate single victim

Therefore our stand is that of law abiding citizens while we keep vigil before the government to perpetually address our demand in consonant with its 2007 campaign promise
