Similarly, Adamu Lawal Mijinyawa who is the Public Relations officer of the mosque, confirmed to Sahel Standard in a SMS that for now, the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque Kaduna, Malam Balele Wali remained suspended till further notice.

Sheihk Gumi and Malam Wali had during the last Eid prayers, disagreed on who would read the sermon, a development that caused confusion in the mosque and threatened peaceful coexistence in the area.

However, Gumi was alleged to have threatened to spearhead the removal of Balele Wali as the Chief Imam, for daring to challenge him.

The council of Ulema however, said in a statement in Kaduna that while Wali should remain calm on suspension pending the resolution of a committee set to resolve the impasse amicably, Gumi should also desist from making provocative statement that could breach peace.

The Islamic clerics appealed to the commissioner of police, Director DSS and other stakeholders to monitor the situation in the interest of peace and development of the state.
