Sometimes trying to balance two equations at a time can only lead us to give a right answer to a wrong question, there comes a time when we have to abandon our mind and follow our hearts-Blaze Olamiday.

Although I am not familiar with praising politicians due their nature and my position as an activist, but I feel obliged to write a tribute to Honourable Ghali Ma’aji Abdulhamid, Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, Bauchi State.

It’s undoubted that Katagum of Bauchi State has been missing something special, this thing is nothing but patriotic leaders like Late Tatari Ali, Late Bashir Mustapha, Late Ibrahim Muhammad Jarma and many others who exhausted must of their youthful energy in serving their fatherland. I recently acknowledged that these “Warriors are not yet Missing”

Ghali Ma’aji, a Katagum based politician, as graduate of Barchelor of Arts English and Mass Communications from Bayero University Kano started his carrier brightly as a banker before retiring voluntarily after Fourteen years in the banking service. As a young and patriotic, Ghali joined politics with great ambition and started his political career as a personal assistant to Honourable Auwalu Abdu Gwalabe then member of the National Assembly representing Katagum constituency. After four years at the National Assembly, Ghali appointed as Special Assistant on Political Matters by immediate past deputy speaker of the National Assembly Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha where he worked rigorously and contributed immensely to the achievements of the Seventh Assembly. On completion of his assignment, Ghali returned home to contribute his counterpart to the development of his community.

In 2015, Ghali contested the membership of the Federal House of Assembly under the then newly merger party, the All Progressive Congress, APC but unfortunately lost the primaries to Ibrahim Muhammad Baba. Due to his affable and noncontroversial nature, Gali gained unprecedented respect from the elite of the All Progressive Congress in the state. After the 2015 general elections, the Governor of Bauchi State Barrister Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar appointed Ghali Ma’aji as a Commissioner for Water Resources and the Member of the state’s executive council.

On assumption of new post, Ghali met huge challenges of restructuring the Ministry that was intentionally neglected in the past. The new commissioner took it upon hemself to ensure that there is constant supply of potable water to the citizens. The Bauchi State Ministry of Water Resources under Muhammad Ghali Abdulhamid has been doing a good job on behalf of the state Government to ensure regular water supply in the in the state. To achieve this enormous task, the Bauchi state Ministry of Water Resources also does this in association with the Federal and State constituted water Agencies, local Government arm of the Departments of Water Resources, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), as well as the well to do private individuals, in their philanthropic gesture.

Despite the daunting economic challenges inherited by the administration of Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, coupled with the shortcomings of the administration in the areas of key infrastructure, Ghali has recorded unprecedented achievements in his first fiscal year as commissioner for water resources which include: Construction of over 1000 hand pump boreholes, construction of tens of solar water supply scheme, rehabilitation of about 100 broken solar powered water scheme. Ghali has also rehabilitated Thousands of hand pump boreholes in rural areas within Bauchi state and provided over 15 VIP latrines.

In acknowledging the achievements of Muhammad Ghali Abdulhamid, Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar appointed him to oversee the Ministry for Agriculture and Natural Resources during a recent cabinet reshuffle, a ministry that APC’s government give imperious emphasis being the proposed source of turning the economy to track at the time when oil price falls drastically.

In conclusion, I will like to remind Ghali that; being the only member of the Bauchi state executive council that oversees two ministries is not a privilege but a responsibility that requires hardwork, commitment and sincerity of purpose. And little failure would send the state back to despair and add huge problems to your administration. May God the Almighty guide you through.
