Vandalization Of Power Transmitters Hamper The Restoration Of  Energy Efficiency In Nigeria

The Plateau state Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy ,Hon, Engr Ja’afaru Wuyep has decried the level of vandalization of power equipment by men of the underworld is so worrisome in Nigeria.

Engr Wuyep  said most of the ecliptic problem being experience in the country has denied many families access to national grid energy projects which affected small scale business.

He said the vandalization of power transmitters within and outside Plateau state especially the Jos Distribution Company is caused by manmade tsunami of illegal vandals .

The commissioner says, the availability and use of energy has proved to be a close measure of industrial activity and significant index of standard of living .

Speaking further to participants ,he says in a developing countries like Nigeria no activity is more basic to the fuller utilization of our resources than the development of the energy sector of the economy.

Wuyep says the aggregate energy needs of Plateau state based on the international per capital index of 1kw person will be 4,500mw but the state hardly get up to 200mw from both UNESCO and JEDCO currently .

He stressed that the state is home to every high caloric plants ,hence the compatibility of biomass to power and biofuel technologies with decentralized electrification can be applied in various ways such as bio gasification plants for electricity supply.

Wuyep noted in addition to the numerous standalone solution in domestic and commercial properties ,the state is about completing two solar mini grid plants as a pilot scheme for the use of this technology to increase energy access to populace .
