Three students of the Isa Mustapha Agwai l Polytechnic Lafia, have reportedly been shot and one female student simply identified as Ajoke, an ND ll student from Science Laboratory Technology, was abducted by unknown gunmen on Tuesday around 08:00 pm according to reports by anonymous sources from the institution.
Those shot named Freedom Luka, Ogwuche Janet said to be a student of HND l Public Administration and HND II Business Administration and Management respectively while Danladi Nicholas, an admission seeker, were said to have been rushed to the Emergency Unit of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia for medical attention as their situations remain deteriorating.
The Polytechnic environment has been a deathtrap for students, staff, and residents as the security and safety of the area continue to be a subject of uncertainty.
Efforts to speak to the Rector of the institution, Justina Anjiode-Kotso, proved abortive.
Also, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ranham Nansel was yet to react on the matter at press time, even though feelers have spread across on the porosity of security as students were said to be gearing up to demand immediate release of the female student unhurt.
Speaking with one of the officials of the Students Union Government of the institution who did not want his name in print said “The abduction and shooting truly happened but we are yet to agitate for anything. This is too bad”.
He confirmed that the unidentified abductors were yet to make contact with the management or the students union.
