Three notable groups in the South East zone, the South East Revival Group (SERG), Alliance for Democratic Governance (ADG), and the Save Enugu Group (SEG) have joined the galaxy of endorsement of the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for a second term in office.
The groups, which rose from a strategic tripartite meeting on grassroots mobilisation for the Governor’s reelection in Enugu, the state capital, noted that “the governor has won the hearts of the people by giving governance a human face.”
In a statement signed by the group’s Convener and the National coordinator of SERG, Chief Willy Ezugwu and the Secretary and Coordinator of ADG, Comrade James Ezema, the tripartite group further said the reelection of Governor Ugwuanyi is “God-ordained, which the people’s Governor has worked out through his achievements in office.
“Governor Ugwuanyi is being celebrated by all for his excellent service to humanity and hard work, which saw him win the Sun Governor of the Year Award 2018, the Vanguard Personality of the Year Award 2018 and the Daily Independent Governor of Year 2018 Award for Grassroots Development.
“We are also excited by the unique style with which Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi approached governance in the last three and half years. For the first time in recent years, Enugu people have seen a government with human face.
“Even when it comes to infrastructural development, the Governor Ugwuanyi administration has very noticeably endeared itself to the ordinary residents of the Enugu State by strategically and audaciously taking road constructions that have become an exclusive preserve of urban cities to the rural communities.
“This departure from what seems to be the norm all over the country where successive administrations continue to construct and reconstruct urban roads with little or no attention to roads in the agrarian communities elevated Governor Ugwuanyi from a governor who has done well to the people’s servant who has done extraordinarily well.
“His works have touched the hearts of the people of Enugu State and remain largely responsible for all the endorsements that have come his way.
“Relying on the antecedents of Governor Ugwuanyi both as a federal legislator and governor for three and half years, majority of Enugu people are strongly convinced that if given a second term in office, the entire state will be transformed, and the unique outcome will be new urban areas springing up across the state. The creation of new urban areas in the state will not only lead to massive job creation but will also arrest rural-urban migration due to lack of social amenities in the rural area.
“Governor Ugwuanyi has kept faith with his four-point agenda anchored on employment generation, social services and good governance, rural development, security and social justice. So, one good tenure deserves another”, the groups said. “
