JNI Calls For Ardent Prayers Towards Hitch Free 2019 General Elections

Du’a simply denotes prayer, supplication and invocation. It remains the most important veritable means in approaching Allah, the Omniscient and the Omnipotent with complaints, requests, needs and intervention at difficult and trying times, for indeed nothing whatsoever over-powers Allah in the heavens and on the earth. In Qur’an 40:60, Allah the Most High says: “And Your Lord said: pray to Me, I will answer you”. Qur’an 2:186, further states: “And when (O Messenger) My servants ask you about Me, then surely I am near. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he prays to Me”. While in the prophetic sayings, he was reported to have said “Prayer is the weapon for the believer, the pillar of the religion and the light of the heavens and the earth”. Du’a is also the “nucleus of the acts of worship”.

Therefore, to Muslims Du’a is paramount at all circumstances of our lives, most especially in trying times like what we are witnessing daily in Nigeria today, as a result of political permutations resulting in grave uncertainties towards the forthcoming 2019 General Elections, commencing in February. The call for prayer has inexorably become necessary because nothing is as honourable before Allah as prayer. For whoever, to whom the door of prayer is opened, will have his prayers answered.

Thus, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), under the leadership of His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, JNI, uses this medium to call on the Nigerian Muslim Ummah to engage in ardent prayers considering the fact that 2019 General Elections is around the corner. This call has become imperative bearing in mind that as Muslims, supplications to Allah, the Almighty, is the nucleus of worship, and there is nothing that is dearer to Allah than invocation, it is also the most honourable thing before Him, the Most High, and a surest way to attaining requests put before Him. Hence, Muslims are implored to frequently engage in Du’a, especially for the seemingly palpable fear and anxiety from some quarters towards a resentful free 2019 General Elections.

We reiterate our call on Imams to return to special prayers in calamitous situations and trying times (Qunutun-Nawazil), as well as seeking Allah, the Most High for His compassion during and after the 2019 General Elections, for peace and harmony. Muslims throughout the country are hereby urged to embrace more Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), through glorification of Allah, Istighfar (seeking Allah’s forgiveness) and ceaseless Du’a (prayers and invocations), for ease and relief.

This call has become inevitable because prayers remain the most powerful instrument upon which we beseech Allah for His intervention in dealing with evil plotters, as well as Satan himself. Likewise, we call on all Muslim brethren to see it as a point of duty to always include the 2019 General Elections in their respective daily supplications to Allah, for hitch free general elections, not minding the provocative utterances of the political gladiators. We nonetheless call on politicians to be mannered and avoid hate speeches as well as all violent tendencies, seeing that responsible conduct of campaign is a panacea in ushering responsible leadership.
