Joining issues with the kwashiorkor infested patients now under the intensive care of certificated crooks, may amount to an honor. But for posterity and the records, it is imperative for the truth be told. The several advertorials sponsored on the pages of Newspapers against Mallam Tukur Mamu (Publisher of Desert Herald Newspaper/Magazine) with suspected stolen public funds by high profile crooks beyond repentance was not a surprise. ‘Advocates Against Corruption’ are truly Advocates whose source of sponsorship needs further investigation to unearth the truth and expose those who are truly corrupt.
The body language of ‘Advocates Against Corruption’ from the advertorials reveals conspiracy and calculated attempt to distract the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari and the new minister of the FCT, Mohammed Bello from directing a thorough probe of the FCDA administration under the billionaire former Minister Senator Bala Muhammed who perfected corrupt practices and theft with the connivance of Ibrahim Bomoi (Director Treasury) adjudged a gifted public servant blessed with itchy fingers who has since deleted transparency, probity and justice in his ways of life.
The baseless and unfounded allegations against Mamu could neither disturb a sleep nor divert attention from exposing the malfeasance that grounded the FCDA. I make bold in the interest of democracy and good governance to debunk the lies not minding insults from street urchins, hired writers and miscreants hobnobbing with certified crooks now so desperate to dodge a probe.
Some people seem desperate to ridicule the reputation of accomplished personalities even if they know not what to do with such acts. They care not that their channel of achieving their goal is primordial and leading to murdering the truth so long as they smile to the banks to access the fee. The advertorial was the height of insensitivity spurred by unbridled, hatred: It also laid bare the sadistic nature of those behind the insensitive garbage of lies and fiction.
The source put out conjectures, wishful thinking and products of a negative fertile imagination and desperation that Tukur Mamu forged a University Degree of the Institut Superieur de Technologie et de Management (ISTM), Niamey, Niger Republic.
The advertorials not only tried, albeit in vain, to cast aspersion on the reputation of the Publisher of Desert Herald but attempted to twist facts ostensibly for Police intervention who had earlier dismissed the case despite several offers of mouth-watering incentives including choice plots of land from sponsors of ‘Advocates Against Corruption’ who are cheap tools for blackmail.
The desperation, twisting of facts and murdering truth under the guise of anti-corruption are there for all to see and the venom and pent up frustration was dripping all through intended to ridicule Tukur Mamu who endured the pain to challenge the old corruption infested order of FCDA.
One was forced to shudder to think that those behind such mischief harangue were actually out to destabilize the President Muhammadu Buhari efforts of fighting corruption for selfish interest of desperate attention.
The advertorial was a jumble of incoherent and disjointed innuendos to hoodwink the gullible and the uninformed that Tukur Mamu is corrupt and scandalous ignoring his laudable effort to fighting corruption in all facets of our nation’s life.
To sane minds, that was a futile attempt to discredit the reputation of those in the genuine fight against corruption and other sundry cases of malfeasance who built their reputations through dint of hard work, courage, probity and justice. To those trading in mischief for a living masquerading as ‘Advocates Against Corruption’ while wining and dining with the corrupt and the thieves, should strive to dig deep down for facts before rushing to the public gallery because crass ignorance and malicious allegations should be discouraged in public discourse. Any sane mind will naturally ask where the so called Advocates got a supposedly confidential letters of the IGP to publish if there is no official conspiracy against Mamu.
In my view the retired Police DIG that was interviewed by DESERT HERALD is right that the police at the General Investigation Unit are culpable and that releasing official letters of the Police to Sen. Bala Muhammad and Ibrahim Bomoi for publication when the matter is not conclusive is a breach of investigation and a clear case of treason much worse than the offence they are accusing Mamu of. The corruption Advocates of Bala and Bomoi should be courageous enough to tell Nigerians where they got the official documents and subject themselves to face the law instead of wasting their time on something that cannot be achieved under this government. They are making mockery and nonsense of the IGP. Arase even though has relationship with Bala Muhammad he is not stupid. He will not allow them to implicate him.
The transparent posture and courage of Tukur Mamu is a blow to champions of corruption and theft of public funds now finding it difficult to swallow as it negates all they stand for. It may also sound the death knell of their trade for possibility of change.
The blackmail can best be described as the height of irresponsibility, recklessness, insensitivity and sadism for anyone to put out at this trying period of changing the old order to new and credible systems for human progress.
There is no gain saying that FCDA was bruised, brutalized and gang-raped by Senator Bala Muhammed, Ibrahim Bomoi, Jamila Tangaza, Ibrahim Mainasara and other crooks within the system that was exposed by the courage of Tukur Mamu. The effort of Tukur Mamu is akin to a patient coming out of surgery and going through trauma management stage. Instead of thanking the surgeons for rescuing the patient from the jaws of death, rabble rousers are now bent on disrupting the post-operation because they feel resources of FCDA are for sharing, stealing and looting that should not be exposed.
As truth is sacrosanct, some ‘offended’ elements may not be comfortable with the public privileged to know the actual happenings although one is not fronting or defending Tukur Mamu related to the malicious allegations of blackmail and hatred but one must say the truth no matter what.
The mischief makers were quick to state in their advertorial that, “This same Tukur Mamu parading himself, as a media publisher and making defamatory publications has since been blacklisted by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) following his indictment by a panel set up by the union to probe his activities”. If one may ask, what has the case of certificate forgery got to do with Mamu’s business of publishing? What has Tukur Mamu got to do with NUJ as a publisher? ‘Advocates Against Corruption’ have exposed their crass ignorance of what to be a publisher entails as they were enticed to only act the script. NUJ is a mere trade union body that has got nothing to do with a publisher and has no power under the law to blacklist a duly registered paper. The worst the union could do is to restrict reporters from DESERT HERALD from operating from the NUJ which most national papers don’t patronise.
The NUJ meddled into an issue it had less to do with but for what was offered, it deceived its sponsors. Tukur Mamu has never claimed to be a member of the NUJ even for a second. It was the desperate Ibrahim Bomoi and Nosike Agbenyi (former S.A Media to Bala Muhammed) that recruited NUJ to do their bidding against Tukur Mamu that never had an impact and now trumpeted by another hired group of miscreants. Let the Advocates, refer us to any of Tukur Mamu’s ‘defamatory’ publications for reference or state why was such a publication not challenged in a Court of Law? Or are the Advocates telling us that exposing corrupt practices in their definition is defamatory because their sponsors are victims?
“WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE ERA OF IMPUNITY IN OUR COUNTRY IS OVER!!!” so stated by the Advocates which made a complete nonsense of their stance since they are corruption personified yet stating that the era of impunity is over. If truly the era of impunity is over to us, what next then is for the Advocates?
The faceless Advocates should know that President Muhammadu Buhari is at the helms of affairs not a clueless leader and is watching and monitoring performance of every segment of the society and has ears in the FCDA that update him with contemporary happenings. It is just a matter of time before the crooks will be confined to where they rightly belong.
Mention was made of the Inspector-General of Police “to use his good office as a matter of urgency to order the immediate arrest and arraignment of Tukur Mamu for forgery and cheating”. That was a directive to the Inspector-General from a group of clowns not minding the implications that may be involved of ordering an arrest for the sake of pleasing a disgruntled few.
“Please note that in furtherance of our commitment to the anti-corruption agenda of the present administration, we may be left with no option than to resort to mass protests and occupation of strategic offices in Abuja if this petition is not accorded the deserved expeditious attention……..”
The above statement is explicitly clear on the hatchet at hand. The Inspector-General of Police is threatened with a mass protest and occupation of strategic offices if he fails to abuse the right of Tukur Mamu to please paid agents of crooks. The fact that they claimed to be lawyers we will like to know if there is any law in Nigeria that allows even legally recognised groups to stage “occupation of strategic offices in Abuja”, if their “petition is not accorded the deserved expeditious attention?”
As for legally approved protest, the Advocates should be told in the best language they may understand that they lack the courage and power to stage any claimed protest which others can equally organize with ease. Corruption is at its best but PMB is equal to the task. The agreed fee has been justified by Advocates and they have truly ridiculed and portrayed themselves as accomplices in the on-going malfeasance at FCDA. Let Advocates be bold to call on the Inspector-General of Police to cause a thorough investigation into the financial records of FCDA under the sacked Minister, Bala Muhammed including award of contracts and land allocations if they are the genuine Advocates Against Corruption. Let them liaise with Desert Herald for facts and figures to support the call for the thorough investigation.
What most people hate to see is others idling that could have been useful to the society but becoming mercantilism and debauchery. We are confident the Inspector-General of Police has a vision and a mission to accomplish than becoming a tool of mischief to side identified corrupt government officials and their errand boys. They are too dim and too enamored with the trappings of this fleeting moment to spare a thought for tomorrow. They bury themselves in the inane perquisites of today’s office and position and deny the reality of tomorrow and ignore the power of history. Surely there will be tomorrow and history will be told as long as there is life.
