A Max Air plane has crash-landed at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
The aircraft with registration number 5N-MBD, B733, was said to have arrived in Kano from Lagos when the incident occurred about 10:57 pm. on Tuesday.
The plane was carrying 53 passengers and six crew members.
A report by The Witness online newspaper quoted one of the passengers to have confirmed the incident.
The passenger was reported to have said that the airplane lost its nose landing gear tyre during landing.
“Immediately after touchdown, the tire burst and caught fire. The aircraft then skidded to a halt on the runway,” said a passenger.
“As we exited the aircraft, firefighters were already at the scene, spraying water to contain the flames.
“We were evacuated immediately, and no report of injury among us,” the passenger added.
