Yakubu Busari,

The People Democratic Party, PDP, Plateau Chapter, have been having endless feuds and crisis which care is not taken will lead the Party in the State to a very big political Tsunami.

The accusations by politicians to blackmail military boys to go back to their barracks were never a concrete reason for truncating the first, second republic because it is glaring those civilians is the worst people in managing the resources of the nation.

Since 1999 when the military junta officially put an end to their reign and PDP men came in with long swords of ethnic, tribal and religious bigotry, the civilian people have continued to see the worst of slaughtering, maiming, butchering, and hacking of vulnerable rural populace

The crisis in Plateau state began to raise her ugly head in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau state when so many allegations of conspiracy, political bitterness were said to be ravaging the southern senatorial district of Plateau stat.

The plot was seen in the Federal constituency in Wase LGA in 1993 ,the then Zakari Mohammed during the SDP ,NRC ,he ,Zakari Mohammed disclosed( Wase Ban Da Yergam) meaning Wase without the Tarok so that barbaric theory extended to 1999 where a group of southern senatorial district of politicians connived to gangster against the Tarok speaking natives in the southern zone .

However, this development gave room for the shattering of governorship zoning arrangement of the 1st and 2nd republic between the six LGAs of, Langtang North, Langtang south, Mikang ,Wase Shendam and Quaan- Pan .

The political graveyard which sparked off the communal civil unrest was due to selfishness cheap seeking popularity is now a serious curse to the people of southern senatorial district.

The constitution of any organization is the ground norm which spell out the guiding principles of that organization or association which any action taking outside the provisions of the constitution shall be null and amount to no effect whatsoever.

The PDP constitution is supreme. The PDP constitution (2017 as amended) spells out how the Party is to be run by officials and other, how they are elected into office and how they assume office by taking their oath of office.

Party Congresses were to be held on 7/03/2020 and 23/03/2020 respectfully for Wards and LGAs which in some Wards and LGAs the congresses took place and in some there were no congresses in some Wards and LGAs.

In order to entertain complaints by Party Members after the conduct of the congresses, an appeal panel was put in place in order to hear appeals from Party members.

The role of that Appeal panel is for the sustainable of the unity of the Party as the key word that guides its duties is ‘Justice’ Justice for the complainant, and the person being complained of and the Party at large.

Are Party members only allowed to choose sections of the Party that suits them? Certainly no.

The inauguration of exco  of the validly elected Ward and LGAs were to be inaugurated on the date of the expiration of tenure of the current exco which the constitution of the Party clearly states that such persons are to take their oath of Office either before a Commissioner of Oath or a Notary Public.

Before a person assumes office, based on the Party constitution, such person must take his/her oath of office and failure to do same amounts to the person not validly sworn in into that office which he/she cannot discharge the functions of that office.

To our mind, the Party had no power to have done an online inauguration for newly elected exco through a press statement (if it was truly done).

The implications of the above in light of Section 65 of the Party constitution is that the Party exists without inaugurated exco, and elected but not inaugurated exco cannot have powers to undertake the functions of that office which the party at present has no exco. Period!

The communication from the National is clear which I reproduce bellow: “You are therefore by this correspondence, directed to take necessary and appropriate steps to inaugurate the new Executive Officers in accordance with the provisions of Section 65 of our Party’s constitution as amended in 2017.”

I believe that the above has not been followed.

LGA Exco Inauguration

I believe that the same unconstitutional means that was employed by Party as regards the Wards would be adopted at the LGA level too, simply put, the Party will operate without exco at the LGA level also if the constitution in Section 65 is not followed.

LGAs Without Issues Of Non-Conduct Of Congresses

Our candid opinion is for the Party not to inaugurate any person in those LGAs as it will breed conflict in the affected LGA which will lead the Party into disarray. We are instead to seek unity.

The Appeal Panel was meant to hear and determine all issues placed before it but from my findings, that was not done which also violates the principles of natural justice equity and conscience.

When congresses were not held in LGAs, it is my opinion that the Appeal panel Should have resolved the matters and not to have abdicated in its responsibilities.

Today, I hear many aggrieved members of the Party lamenting on how badly they were treated as if they are second class members and not stakeholders of the Party.

Well, I believe that the goal of Party members should be to return power back to the people and not to ‘have the exco’ in order to win Party Primaries and not win elections.

As a Party, the PDP must abide by the Motto of the Party which is JUSTICE, UNITY AND PROGRESS. It cannot have PROGRESS in the Party, without UNITY and JUSTICE which is the platform which all the two rest on. Therefore, Justice must be done in order to achieve all the aspirations of the Party.

The constitution of the Party is supreme and It is imperative that  the Party to abide by the provisions (letters and spirit) in its entirety and not to choose sections that please the interests of a few.
