All is not well within the Political sphere of Jigawa State, this is as this medium gathered that there is heightened tension in the State following an supposed plan by the Jigawa House of Assembly to impeach the State Governor Badaru Abubakar.

As gathered by this medium the impeachment plan is among the options being weighed by the State House of Assembly members in the move to remove the Governor from office, an alleged illegal sale of a landed property of the State which is in Lagos without the approval by the State House.

This medium finding revealed that the House of Assembly began investigation in a bid to probe the governor on what they termed as; “illegal approval given to 27 local government councils of the state to purchase primary schools furniture.”

According to Sources who spoke with this medium hinted that the purchases were not captured in the 2017 fiscal year budget.

While speaking to newsmen in Dutse the State Capital, Hon. Musa Sule representing Dutse Constituency alleged that the Governor sold the plot of land belonging to Jigawa State which is domiciled in Lagos and subsequently bought a house which he said it is to be used as State Government Lodge.

Speaking Sule said; ““We were baffled for such process to be effected under his (deputy governor’s) watch, after knowing full well it was illegal to carry out such transaction without referring to the assembly.

“We are talking of a property that was sold. It is a plot of land in Lagos. It was sold and a house was bought. We learnt that it was furnished and it will serve as government lodge in Lagos.

“We felt it was an insult on our part because we have heard how some other executives go about it on cases like this,” he said.

“We are going to do things accordingly, but all the same, we have drawn their attention to what they have done. It is a breach of the constitution and that may warrant anything, even impeachment,” he added.

It would be recalled that the action of the House fallowed a motion moved by member representing Kazaure Constituency Barister Bala Hamza Gada where he seeks House to find out details about the assets sold by the present administration of Governor Badaru and also to find out how the alleged selling was conducted without the approval and of the State House of Assembly.

The motion was seconded by the member representing Dutse constituency Alhaji sule musa Dutse who also emphasized on the need of the House to take a detailed Census of the entire assets of the State within and outside the state.

It was earlier reported that the House filed a motion seeking the Assembly to investigate Primary schools furniture contract award, which was awarded by the 27 local governments of the State, where it was alleged the contract was not done through a proper channel.

The two motions were unanimously supported by members of the Assembly, a situation that led to the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Isa Idris Gwaram to assigned the Standing committee of the assembly in charge of special duties and Local Governments to carry out investigation of the issues.
