Taraba SSG, Commissioners Sue AG. Gov Over Removal

Taraba State Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Emmanuel Njiwah, and five commissioners, who were sacked last week, has sued the acting Governor of the State, Garba Umah, demanding that their sacking be reversed.
A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Kefas Sul, last Tuesday announced the removal of the SSG, and others for allegedly mismanaging N400m Federal Government intervention fund for the 2012 flood disaster in Taraba State
But the SSG alongside the five commissioners and the two special advisers prayed a High Court sitting in Jalingo to “declare the purported sacking as well as an order setting aside the adhoc committee report of state House of Assembly as null.”

The plaintiffs, who argued that the statement reduced their reputation, wondered why the acting governor refused to set up another committee for the verification of the report.
A statement by the plaintiffs read, “On the whole, it is our submission that the House ad hoc committee was not interested in finding out the true position of the flood disaster assignment, otherwise, they would have invited us to furnish them with information which were available with us for their use.
“Again, why the acting Governor could not wait for the Executive Council Committee set up to review the reports of the two procurement sub-committees and the submissions of SEMA to submit their report before taking his decision on this matter remains a mystery.”
