The Senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi risk being recalled by Irate and disenchanted constituents after losing confidence in his representation.
The constituents who expressed their displeasure through a group known as Concerned Citizens of Northern Kaduna Senatorial District petitioned the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) where they requested for a referendum to be conducted in order to recall Mr. Hunkuyi.
According to them, they said that they have lost confidence in the representation being provided by Mr. Hunkuyi.
“Pursuant to Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which allows the recall of a serving senator or member of the House of Representatives, we undersigned registered voters of Kaduna North Senatorial District hereby forward our petition against our senator due to the loss of confidence in his ability to represent us at the National Assembly.
In view of the aforementioned, we humbly request for the conduct of a referendum to recall him from the National Assembly,” the petitioners said.
As it is, the petition garnered 32 signatures from Zaria and Tundun Wada Local Government Areas. Those that signed also wrote down their Voter’s Card numbers as well as the polling units they are from.
