Senator Timothy Adudu led a committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC, which has confirmed the election of Hon Lumumba Adah Adeh as the sole candidate of the Bassa Local Government Council bloc for the Federal House of Representative for Jos North, Bassa Constituency.
The Chairman was represented by subcommittee Chairman Hon Sam Para and Chairman APC Bassa Local Government D.A.Chongo during the press conference held at Bishop Court, on Thursday in Jos.
Adudu debunked the speculation by some of the defeated members of the committee who participated in the first stage of the Bassa primaries.
He explained that the death of the member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency created a vacuum position that needs to be filled and the party is struggling on how to fill in a credible candidate that is acceptable to all and concluded that committees be set. up across the two LGs with a least 15 members each making 30 in Jos North, Bassa.
Our party had a harmonious agreement amongst stakeholders to present one candidate each which this same exercise was done during Chief Joshua Dariye when Hon Dogara died, similarly, the late Hon Gyang Fulani and Amb Ignatius Longjan, and Prof Nora Daduut emerged to provide a room for the people of Bassa Local Government to lobby Jos North LG to allow them to contest the seat.
However, Adudu stressed under the three chiefdoms under Bassa we have Irigwe, Rukuba, and Pengana and in Pengana about 12 aspirants indicated interest to run for the vacant seat in APC.
According to him, some of the members of the committee involved 3 members of wards and 3 elders each and statutory delegates which we all agreed on how the modality of the election would be conducted which the party set up the committee.
He noted the assignment shopped for the best candidate to complete the remaining tenure of Late Hon Haruna Maitala especially the person that has resources, capacity and we took time to go round the chiefdoms after that Hon Lumumba Adah Adeh emerged victoriously.
