Security Beefed Up In Schools In Plateau, Bauchi Over Boko Haram Attack By Yakubu Busari,Jos
Following attacks on schools by insurgents state governors of Bauchi and Plateau State has beefed up security network in all the schools in their states .
According to our correspondent who visited some neighboring government owned schools in Plateau and Bauchi states reported that there was a presence of plain-clothes men manning the gates and some strategic areas in the schools with stop and search of students or any prospective visitors to the schools.
A principal of the school,who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity,said; ” since the blast in our neighboring state Potiskum in Yobe state and of Azare which claimed several lives of not fewer than Eighty students of all boys Government Comprehensive Secondary School and that of College of Education Kontagora in Niger state its very clear that the insurgents had beamed their searchlight on schools especially government owned schools in North-East and North -central Nigeria “
The principal advised the government at different levels to come together and solve this menace of the insurgents posing a security risk in the county,especially the North -Eastern part of the county.
“Now most parents are scared to send their children /wards to school due to insecurity and threats,some who dared it are apprehensive .
Some of the students who spoke on condition of anonymity,said they are no longer concentrating on their studies because of the frequent bombing of schools by Boko Haram,and calling on the government to look into the matter with the view of putting an end to it once and for all.
It would be recalled that in less than two weeks, insurgence operating in North-Eastern Nigeria Boko Haram interpreted in Hausa (Western Education is Forbidden) had intensified attacks on schools in the area, the latest which is on science comprehensive government school Potiskum Yobe state and college of Education Kkontagora in Niger state.
Also in Plateau state the security reports revealed that there is some trace of bomb and the influx of suspected Boko Haram .
However,our source gathered that twenty people were allegedly arrested by security personnels at old airport junction pretending to be traders .
The state own Radio PRTV recently announced the landing of Chopper in Mahanga Village of Barkin Ladi with 20 Hilux van suspected a camp of the insurgent.
Information revealed that in the past few days the activities of attacks killing of people and cattle rustling has been on the increase .
