Sango Remains Authentic Chairman Of PDP, Lalong Performance Isn’t Impressive -2nd Republic Chief Whip, John Akson)

Yakubu Busari

The former Chief Whip Plateau State House of Assembly, during the Second Republic in 1979 under Nigeria People Party, NPP, of late civilian Governor Solomon Daushep Lar, Hon John A. Akson has condemned that the type of politicians produced today are not disciplined enough to tolerate one another as seen in the last four years of the All Progressives Congress APC as a major setback to the development of Plateau dream.

Akson stated this in an interview granted our correspondent at his country home in Rukuba Road Ajingi Bassa Local Government Council of Plateau state recently.

He said as a founder of the People Democratic Party, PDP, which had ruled for 16 years, it is normal in life that situation might change but as PDP we all appreciated until something happened when the supporters were so careless and it reached a point where five governors left the party.

“You see all these governors who left had huge numbers of followers or supporters that was the beginning of the collapse of PDP that we mainly lost elections in 2015, Mr. President then, Goodluck Jonathan was misled by some of the members that he ended up being frustrated “, he noted.

Akson acknowledged that in the last February 2019 election, it was a clear indication that the PDP won the election.

He disclosed that as the former Chairman Plateau Elders Forum, the threatening crisis in PDP,  he wants everyone to see it that any good vibrant house with a good leader should also have good followers.

According to him, there are constitutional guidelines to amend the problem, it is good that the party members view it as good enough that every citizen is trying to see that he or she get something under the fruit of the party.

Yes, I agreed that the competition is there,  as former party leader, we must understand ourselves and tolerate each other.

However, the  Chris Hassan led group disgraced themselves and follow the wrong channel, they should have allowed the NWC to follow the action properly to its conclusion because it is only the National Leadership that can take concrete action. They lack the power to take power.

He reiterated that when the National secretariat urged them to step aside which didn’t go down well with the Sango and Chris Hassan group so the resorted to taking a decision that is capable tearing us apart, “however they see it, Hon Damishi Sango remain the authentic chairman of PDP in Plateau state.

We advised that the National secretariat to take a decisive measure between Chris Hassan and Damishi Sango and see who is at fault because the constitution of the party has empowered the national leadership has the power to take necessary decision.

“I set up a committee before the expiration of my office to see who are true members of the party before I immediately hand-off and former Governor Fidelis Naanyap Tapgun decamped to APC, he explained.

Hon John Akson advised the aggrieved members as one of the players for them to lower their anger because they’re still members of one family.

When asked, his assessment of the last four years of Governor Simon Lalong, he has this to say, “you see the last four years of Governor Simon Lalong is below average compared to his predecessor Governor Jonah David Jang in the area of infrastructures, security, and human capital development.

Akson told journalists that he is not impressed with the performance of Governor Simon Lalong adding that he should improve otherwise the Plateau people would rate him as the worst governor.
