Samuel-Mary And Dame Emily Foundation In Conjunction With AIFCE Holds One-Day Drug Abuse Awareness Workshop

A Non-Governmental Organization, NGO,in Imo State ably known as “Samuel-Mary & Dame Emily Foundation,in collaboration the management of Alvan  Ikoku Federal College of Education, AIFCE, was on Wednesday, 10th July 2019,held a-one-day seminar on drugs abuse awareness”, with the theme: ” Choose               Life Say No To Drug Abuse”.

The workshop recorded a very huge success        courtesy of the Foundation Coordinator, Chioma  Nwachukwu.   The workshop which took place at the College Auditorium attracted some respected and renowned Motivational Speakers such as:” the Executive Director of the Foundation, Anthonia Annie Obilana,a Nigerian-based in London, United Kingdom, Dr.Mrs.Eugenia Anokam, and Dr.Mrs.Z.Oparah,including Dr.Solomon Obi,who is the National Secretary of Gender Studies Association of Nigeria, Department of Curriculum/Instruction in AIFCE,Owerri,Imo State”.

The Speakers in their respective lectures,expressively kicked against drugs abuse amongst Nigerian youths, even as they  described drugs abuse as an ugly trend in the society which must not be allowed to dominate  in the lives of the youths especially those in the higher institutions.  Adding newsmen shortly after the seminar, the Foundation Coordinator,Chioma Nwachukwu,expressed delight for the successful impacts of the workshop in the lives of the students mostly those who participated and expressed optimism    that the awareness-lectures against drugs abuse would yield positive fruits into the lives of the students.

“In our foundation,we are  trying to rebuild the youths, students and the adults who are helpless. We are  ever poised to eradicate drugs abuse via awareness. We want all and sundry to desist and abstain from such elicit drugs abuse. Our foundation are not happy with the high increase of the abuse on drugs and we are condemning it in totality. Imagine  that Imo State now ranks the number 10th in the world on drugs abuse. Support us to do more in fight against drugs abuse amongst so many young people in Nigeria in general and Imo State in particular”, Nwachukwu submitted.

” As you can see, from our slogan: Transforming lives for a better tomorrow”,says the Coordinator.   Also speaking, Dr.Solomon Obi,in his words, thanked the Foundation for remembering the students of AIFCE,even as he encouraged them to continue in that direction. Dr Obi,therefore appealed to the students not to prescribe drugs for themselves rather they should follow the prescription from experts and professionals with medical-health experiences.

“Before you engage into drugs, endeavor to first consult a guidanian- councillors. He however called on parents to always guide their children. Earlier,the Executive Director of the Foundation, Anthonia Annie Obilana,said she returned to Nigeria to give back to her country following to multiple and diverse wealth of knowledge, to let the students know the urgent needs to desist and abstain from drugs abuse.
