The deplorable state of medical facilities and lack government presence at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, with several threatening illness ravaging the system has irked a concerned political analysis, Ambassador Valentine Adese who said he will expose the Management of Jos University Teaching Hospital and the Chief Medical Director and drag them to court over professional misconduct.

The Plateau state perspective publisher of Reality Newspaper, Valentine Adese vowed to reveal victims who lost their loved ones while seeking health treatment for them, which he said the numbers of such victims are in their hundreds as some became blinds with self-inflicted injuries owing to constant strikes as well as absence of health facilities in the referral health institution.

In a press conference held at Reality Newspaper Valentine Adese accused the management of JUTH and its CMD for duty negligent which he said has caused the death of patients in their 100s.

He called on the medical professional body, the Nigeria Medical Association to urgently sanction the management team of JUTH in order to save.

According to him, the ritual loss of lives started when Prof .Edmond Banwat resumed work as the chief medical director in charge of JUTH ,in spite of the demonstration and protest by staff and others calling on the federal government to sack him fell on deaf ears as it was surprised to see him reappointed again for the second term.

Meanwhile, while reacting on behalf of the Jos University Teaching Hospital ,JUTH ,comrade Mohammed Kabiru said the allegations leveled against the CMD was what sparked the challenges in the past but they nurses were on one shift.

He explained that they all resolved to go back to save lives because the rate of patients coming and can’t access health care delivery forced them to go back to their duty post.

Kabiru was the Union leader who earlier dragged the university teaching hospital and Chief Medical Director to industrial Court which matter was amicably resolved.

However, efforts to speak with the CMD proved abortive as the CMD was not available to speak to our correspondent.

THE STATE OF THE NATION: “THE PLATEAU STATE PERSPECTIVE.” BY: PRINCE AMB. VALENTINE ADESE, PUBLISHER REALITY NEWSPAPERS ON 21ST FEBRUARY, 2018, TO MARK 13TH YEAR OF REALITY NEWSPAPERS

PROTOCOL:

Gentlemen of the Press,

Today, marks like other days that Newsline REALITY Media International, Publishers of REALITY Newspapers, always celebrate with its Staff, Management, the people of Plateau State and the world at large, as we again add another year in the business of information dissemination in the country.

REALITY Newspapers, Gentlemen of the Press is 13 Years last week in the business of information dissemination in the country.

You would recall that last year, we marked this feat by awarding Nigerians, who have distinguished themselves in different fields of endeavors. This same feat, we hope to repeat this year but, in a later date.

As we speak, a committee is already engaged in screening nominated names for different categories of awards.

However, Gentlemen of the Press, this is not the major focus of today’s press briefing. Our focus today is to open up on the Company’s Social Responsibility, which among other things include, being a voice for the voiceless and a medium constitutionally detailed and directed to make our leaders and administrations, to be accountable and responsible to the masses they govern.

As we celebrate this year, we want to put it on record and in the public domain that, the near comatose situation we find at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) is not acceptable. The drift of Doctors from the Hospital and the constant strikes been observed in that institution, are to say the very least unfortunate. It is observed that the Hospital cannot boast of drugs and other needed kits to assist health care and management.

It is on this ground that as a social responsibility, we are planning to drag the Management of JUTH soon to court, especially, over the huge loss of lives that the poor Management of the institution has caused.

We have already taken steps and a coalition of a body of Lawyers and other professionals, are already looking at the issues from the Hospital, side by side, the lamentations and situations we are getting from victims, who have lost their loved ones, owing to the negligence and poor Management and leadership style currently on at the Hospital.

As a medium, you would notice that, as we stood by the governed to condemn some actions, inactions and policies of the Governor Simon Lalong led All Progressive Congress (APC) administration in Plateau state, we also wish to use this day and this moment, to salute the courage of the administration in listening to the masses and their needs by rejecting the planned Cattle Colony and Grazing Reserve proposed policies of the Federal Government.

We hope and pray that the Governor and his administration will continue in this manner.

We also join other Plateau people in commending the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong and PLASIEC for postponing the earlier slated 17th February, 2018, LGCs election in order to save lives and properties, owing to the security situation placed before them and the public.

We however urge the administration to resolve it and nipped the identified threat in the bud and conduct election within a reasonable time in order to bring the needed governance to the people at the grass root level.

In all, we commend the Plateau State House of Assembly for Voting in favour of Local Government Autonomy in the current move to amend the 1999 Constitution.

Thank You all for listening to me.

Prince Amb. Valentine Adese
