This was the position of the retired officers after their general meeting held yesterday at the inspectorate mess in Jos.

Speaking through their National Secretary ASP Sylvanus T. Basadeimbo, the Police pensioners said their plight have been neglected by the previous administration of both the Federal Government and the national assembly.

He said since their entitlement under the PENCOM scheme are not properly paid, that most of their members either dead or are still suffering from one illness or the other, the federal Government should remove them out of it.

“We are asking the federal government to consider our plight and take us out of the PENCOM and return us to the former scheme,” he said. “Or if that cannot be done we are also asking that all our monies should be paid to us.”

Basadeimbo, said it is worrisome that retired ASP are giving low sum of N35, 000, while some of them are giving between N15,000 to N20,000 only as their pension in the PENCOM scheme.

The Secretary said their understanding was that some People are saying; “we should not be remove out of the PENCOM, and their argument is that if we are removed, the PENCOM will be killed.”

He said: “We congratulate President Buhari over his victory at the polls and we are also praying for him to succeed in the leadership of the country.

“We are pleading with him as a listening father and also president for all, to please look into our plight and do justice to us.”

Basadeimbo, also called on the Inspector General of Police to intervain in the matter and ensure that the proper things are done.

He said: “Our thinking is that the senior officers are not bothered about us, it seems that they are comfortable with their position and letting us go on our own.”

Basadeimbo, lamented that the Soldiers and the State Security Services (SSS), were removed from the PENCOM scheme, therefore the Police should also be removed.
