Renewed Attack: Is Plateau Under Siege, As Fresh Attacks On Wednesday Leaves 12 Persons Dead, Many Injured (Photos Inside)

There has been another fresh attack in Irigwe Community of Plateau State, the attack this medium gathered it happened around 6:30am to 7am on Wednesday morning by suspected  Fulani herdsmen militia whom this medium gathered they were well armed with weapons as they went on rampage  burning down houses  belonging to Irigwe  settlement in Dusa Kura  few meters away from 3rd Division ,Rukuba Barrack in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state, however number of deaths and injured are yet to be known as at the time of filling this report.

 

Mr. Lawrence Zongo who spoke to our correspondent on Phone confirmed the killings which took place few a kilometers away from the Rukuba barrack after the killing on Tuesday of about 25 people including innocent women and children.

 

Information available to our medium from the natives revealed that the Rukuba barrack is allegedly sheltering all the wives and children of the Fulani herdsmen and that they abandoned their home by occupying mountains very close to barrack.

 

It is alleged Fulani settlement close to Rukuba barrack, Rafi -Gona and Dusa Kura were sighted on top of mountains blocking Dong road linking Rafiki and use it to cause mayhem to innocent road users.

 

At the time of this report there was exchange of heavy gunshots going between on as well burning of houses.

 

The Plateau state Police Command has also confirmed that they are aware and security personnel have been deployed to suppress and disperse the attackers.

 

PPRO, ASP Tyopev Mathias said the command is aware of the incident and that urgent steps had been taken to bring the situation under control.

 

Meanwhile the Chairman of Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, (MACBAN) Plateau state chapter, Alhaji Muhammad Nuru Abdullah has debunked that as he said rather it the people of Irigwe who  in the early hours of Wednesday today around  5 am invaded Fulani settlement around Rafiki area with weapons killing some of their cows.

 

They attack lasted several hours when the soldiers came to bring the situation under control but they are yet to get detail number of casualties and animals killed by Irigwe militia.

 

The natives are blamed the state government for not enacting the anti-grazing law and protecting farmers in the state which is leading to attacks daily.

 

“I wonder how a state can operate without a law.

 

“We don’t have government, we are not safe, and the road map for peace in the state is political paper work aimed to achieve mere political gains. It will surprise many, the state government did nothing or support financially during all the mass burial, is that a government that belongs to all people? Thank God we did that and we will continue to trust in God alone for divine protection.

 

“We are pleading with International and National NGOs to please come to our aid with relief materials and help rebuilding of burnt houses and payment of hospital bills.

 

“We appreciate the efforts of Management of Enos hospital and Bigham hospital in Jos for taking time in treating the injured once.
