The All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara State Chapter was shocked beyond imagination when it read a Statement issued by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) signed by Alhaji Hashimu Modomawa, Zamfara State Secretary of the Party (PDP) about a crisis of confidence brewing in the Executive Arm of Government in the State.
In the said Statement dated 25/5/2020, Alhaji Hashimu Modomawa refered to an Interview granted The Nigerian Tribune by Zamfara State Commissioner For Rural Development and Cooperatives, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi on 23/5/2020 where as a Member, State Executive Council, the Commissioner accused the Federal Government of according more attention to the fight against COVID 19 Pandemic instead of the fight against armed banditry that is bedeviling Zamfara State.
Attempt was made in the said write-up to disown the said Honorable Commissioner and Member, State Executive Council by the Party (PDP) and by extension the State Government because of the fundamental issues he raised in his Nigerian Tribune interview of 23/5/2020.
We care less about the raised issues but rather care much about the “claimed inclusiveness” of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun’s Administration which according to the writer made it possible for Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) to be appointed as Honorable Commissioner and Member of Governor Matawalle Cabinet.
For the avoidance of doubt there was never an alliance between The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State before, during and after 2019 General Elections that will see to the appointment of APC members into the Cabinet of PDP Government in the State after it took over the mantle of leadership via the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, Zamfara State Commissioner for Rural Development and Cooperatives was not and is not a member of All Progressives Congress; instead he is a member of Accord Party and even used it to contest for the position of Member, House of Representatives, Gusau /Tsafe Federal Constituency of Zamfara State in 2019 General Elections.
This could be attested to by the appearance of his name on Page 1083 Form of Cleared Candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Thursday, 17 January, 2019 and duly signed by Rose Oriaran-Anthony, Secretary to the Commission. ( see attached a copy of the form)
Therefore a Member of Accord Party, who contested an election under its platform doesn’t belong to All Progressives Congress family and cannot be included in the so called “inclusive” administration of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun under the guise of being from the All Progressives Congress.
It’s therefore our( APC) candid advice to the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara State to kindly stop this blame game and own up its woe with a view to putting the record straight.
It has been a year now that you have been in the saddle, what the citizens of the State expect from you (PDP) is dividends of democracy and outline of what you were able to achieve in every sector of human endeavors from May 29, 2019 to May 29, 2020.
