Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc In Quaan Pan LGA

The people of Quaan Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State are not having easy as heavy downpour of rains has continued to wreak havoc within the area.

Just after similar rains had washed away the bridge linking Doemak and Bwall towns, another heavy downpour last week destroyed two other local bridges at Shibiri and Kongnakwal linking Namu and Lankaku towns.

Also destroyed during the downpour were 10 houses in Lankaku village and several rice and yam farms in Kwari village, both in Namu district of the local government.

Reacting to the development, the Acting Chairman of Quaan Pan Local Government Council, Hon. Abdulmalik Haruna Yusuf, who described the situation as alarming, called on both the State and Federal Governments to come to the aid of the Local Government by assisting with the reconstruction of the bridges.

Hon. Yusuf also appealed to both SEMA and NEMA to assist the affected communities, whose livelihood and places of abode were destroyed, saying that the development have unsettled the people and placed them under untold hardships .
