ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC PLATEAU STATE, EWAREWAH HOUSE, YAKUBU GOWON WAY, JOS
RE: APC CONGRESSES :Lalong Should Be Ashamed Of Himself. Ishaya Deserves Justice As New APC Chairman.
The attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC Plateau State Chapter has been drawn to a statement by the Peoples Democratic Party under the above Rev muddled caption. Ordinarily, we would have dismissed it as one of the rantings of the long drowned party in the state but there is the need to straighten the records and put things in their proper perspective.
First, we abhor and deplore the very unprofessional, uncouth and pedestrian deployment of language and vituperation which has become the trademark of John Akans, the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.
We call for a stop to this habitual crudity so that we can engage in civilised and decent conversation. The APC takes serious exception to the usual tantrums by John Akans on the Governor of Plateau State, Right Honourable Barrister Simon Bako Lalong. Referring to the Governor as so-called leader of the APC in Plateau state is to invariably not recognising him as the Governor of the state. We should learn to respect our leaders no matter our frustration, which in the case of the PDP in Plateau state is necessitated by its self inflicted derailment as a party. Political parties will come and go but Plateau State and its interest would remain.
Back to the main issues raised in the press statement by the PDP. As usual, the party is still blaming Governor Lalong for the litany of woes that have befallen it even in the face of glaring suicide mission it embarked on. We wonder when this blame game would end. We do not need an expert to tell us that the problem of the PDP in Plateau state has to do with the ego trip embarked upon by two war horses, both who have stubbornly stick to their guns as to who should control the party machinery in the state.
Both titans are unfortunately totally allergic to democratic tenets and norms.
Governor Simon Lalong, a true leader with impeccable democratic credentials should henceforth be left out of the PDP singsong of his having a hand in its crises.
To be sure, the APC in Plateau state is not happy that the PDP in the state has irredeemably failed to put its house in order. This tragic failure by the PDP has robbed the APC of a vibrant and credible opposition which we are in dear need of. Our party will sigh with great relief the day the PDP can put its house in order to effectively play its opposition role in many years ahead.
On the APC congresses which the PDP in the state employed the services of star gazers to predict its failure must be very disappointed. The congresses, right from the ward, local government and state levels went on seamlessly and are adjudged as one of the most transparent in the whole country.
The state Congress held at the popular Crest Hotel on Saturday which was witnessed by a great number of INEC officials from the state and national headquarters and conducted by ten officials from the National headquarters of the APC was graced by Governor Simon Lalong, his Deputy, Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Right Honourable Idris Maje Wase, one of the two APC Senators in the state, Senator Hezekiah Dimka with apology from Senator Nora Daduut who was out the country on national assignment, Honourable Yusufu Gagdi and all the statutory and state delegates in attendance.
Certainly the PDP which had hoped for a botched APC state Congress were dazed by the huge successes recorded. The PDP’s support for a renegade and perpetual trouble maker, Ishaya Itse who has become an irritant to the APC based on his antecedents is not going to help its case. The claim of a factional secretariat which began with the hoisting of flags in one obscure corner at Angwan Rogo by the attention seeking Itse and his tiny group of about six members, who are well known moles and political merchants is dead on arrival.
They surreptitiously raised a few flags without the knowledge of the owner of Kalwa House who happens to be the Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Plateau state before they were chased out of the premises when the Kalwa management attention was drawn to the mischievous development.
Ishaya Itse who allowed himself to be a willing tool of the opposition and a few disgruntled elements in the APC who had out of greed shot themselves in the foot, has been put to where he rightly belongs. He has been suspended by his Jos Jarawa Ward of Jos North over anti – party activities.
Let it be stated in no uncertain terms that the APC in Plateau state is too advanced for a dead political horse to impose a dummy factional leadership for it.
For the PDP to congratulate Ishaya Itse as a factional party leader in Plateau state remains the figment of imagination of the party. The so-called factional leader could rightly be likened to a premature baby in the PDP incubator whose survival cannot be guaranteed. The man and his inks embarked on a dangerous mission which has consumed them.
The new APC on the Plateau would not be distracted by any group as its leadership would be focused and determined in repositioning the party towards inclusivity in order to maintain its winning streak in future elections. It will continuously support the Governor and leader of the Rescue Mission on the Plateau, Dr Simon Bako Lalong to take the state out of the hands maximum leaders or dictators who brook no opposition when they were on the saddle. The days of anti-people policies in Plateau state remain dead and buried since 2014 and should not be allowed to resurface under any guise.
Our final message for John Akans to tell the PDP in Plateau state is this – Put Your House In Order.
SIGNED :
Hon. Sylvanus Namang
APC State Publicity Secretary.
