Provost College of Education Akwanga Cautions Correspondents ‘ Chapel On Positive Reportage

The provost College of Education, Akwanga  Dr.Rebbeca Umar has cautioned Journalists in the country to accord topmost attention on reportage that would promote harmony amongst the heterogeneous ethnic groups.

Dr.Umaru gave the disclosure when the Correspondents ‘ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Nasarawa state chapter paid her a courtesy visit at the College,she emphasized on the need for concise reportage instead of causing disharmony.

The provost also called on the need to ensure free and fair reporting, describing Journalism as one of the best and risky profession, saying the significance of Journalism would never be over emphasized.

“Journalists should report exactly what was on ground, what will bring peace and unity but not what would divide the nation or state, Dr.Rebbeca Umar congratulate the new executive of the Chapel and prayed for the elective office holders succeed.

The chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Suleiman Abubakar said the visit of the Chapel was to give full coverage of activities the way it is, he commended the provost for bringing in new ground for academic activities to thrive.

He gave the provost the assurance to ensure fair and balance reporting, he further promised that the union would get rid of people impersonating as Journalists.

The national vice president, Zone D of the NUJ, Chief Wilson Bako commended the provost for the massive building completed and ongoing in the institution.

He goes tough on the issue of dress code for female students, appealing to the Provost to take stringent measures against recalcitrant walking half naked in campus.

” I urged you to beam your searchlight on the mood of dressing of female students because half naked dressing is the order of the day, he added.
