The Nigeria Union of Journalists has appealed to Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to provide sophisticated working facilities to the Nasarawa state command of the Nigeria Police to enable the command discharge it’s duty effectively.
The national Vice President Zone D,Chief Wilson Bako gave the disclosure when the Nasarawa state wing of the NUJ presented an award of excellent leadership to the state commissioner of police, Abubakar Bello at the premises of police officers mess.
He described the police boss as the best and most outstanding police commissioner in the history of the state since creation in 1996, adding that the people of Nasarawa state have a cause to celebrate.
“The people of Nasarawa state now sleep with their two eyes close, bandits has deserted the state, Nasarawa is no longer a safer place for criminals” he asserted.
The state chairman of the NUJ, Dan Vintyze Yakubu while presenting the award to the compol commended the police for working side by side with the press as he said the award was in commemoration of the twentieth year of creation of Nasarawa state.
“The union chooses the 2016 dinner night to confer the award for a well done Job, assuring the police of the unflinching support of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in crime fighting”.
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura commended the police in the state for maintaining law and order, and promised to accord utmost support to the police at all times, the Chief of Staff, Muhammed Dan’Azumi who represented the governor has said.
Al-Makura applauded the police for a wonderful job under C.P Abubakar Bello, stating that people of the state are experiencing relief with the maximum fight on criminals and criminality.
“Our doors are open for the police and other sister security agencies, describing peace as a veritable ingredient vested on every responsible government.
The commissioner of police, Abubakar Bello appreciates the press for the award, assuring that the police under his headship will do more by fighting crime and criminals to the barest minimum.
Saying the award will spur the police to do more, he commended the men of the Nigeria police for their dedication to duty as he dedicated the award to Nasarawa state command of the police.
He gave the assurance that the would do more than it’s achieved in 2016 ,saying a new era of policing especially during the current democratic dispensation, the commissioner gave a marching order to police to go and work for populace.
He also called on the general public to give vital information to the police to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry.
