Audu said Abuja Electricity Distribution Company compelled customers to pay N500 each household to reconnect Akurba.

“Honestly what those youth do they represent our voice, but their approach is a bad one, Onawo has no blame because is not representing us now”.

Other residents also decried extortion of money from the people of Akurba but no power has been restored for the past Thirty Six months.

Calling on the State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to restore electricity to Akurba.

He also appealed to the incumbent senator representing Nasarawa North, Senator. Suleiman Adokwe (PDP) and his counterpart at the House of Representatives representing  Lafia /Obi Federal constituency, Hon.Abubakar Sarki Dahiru to reconsider their plight.

Lafia District Manager when contacted declined comment over the alleged extortion of N500 collected from each  household by staff of Abuja Electricity Distribution company.

The Public Relations Officer, Rotimi could not be reached as at press time.
