A Correctional Centre officer in Jos Mr. Kwalpung Danladi has complained of how his colleagues framed him up to a crime he never committed by plotting to destroy his career through conspiracy and threat to his life.
Mr. Kwalpung Danladi who hailed from Kanam Local Government Council of Plateau State in Tutung district of Dengi told our medium that he joined the Nigeria Prison Service, now Correctional Centre on the 1st of August, 2016 and was trained in Kaduna state and then, he was posted to Jos.
Kwalpung Danladi said, my bitter experience began one Friday evening after resuming work at my duty post at about 7:45 pm, I took permission to see a friend and beg him for money for me to buy something for the family upkeep until salary is paid and I dashed to the friend’s house but he wasn’t at home.
Danladi stated, that he met the absence of the friend whose child was down with fever and they rushed the child for medical attention which left him devastated and he returned back to his duty post.
However, with the sad information, I returned back to my duty post a few minutes after hearing that he was not at home.
Then one of the officers that we were posted together, Mr. Bapikou Dashe sighted me coming back and he asked me who was throwing black leather around the fence of which I replied him I don’t know, he (Dashe) quickly rushed to report the incident to one superior officer outside.
However, based on his claim that he saw me throwing black leather around the fence where he left me standing by the gate, Dashe went inside with his boss and wrote statement’s implicating me that I was found wanting to commit a crime within the prison yard.
These allegations landed me to be locked for several weeks before transferring me to NDLEA where I spent additional three months in their custody before arraigning me for a crime of drugs trafficking that I don’t know anything or have any connection with.
Danladi disclosed that he stayed in the custody of NDLEA as he contracted the disease that his currently suffering from.
He said, “the road Dashe claimed that he saw me throwing something inside the prison yard is a public route for all people passing through so I’m not aware of what he said.
“Since that date when Dashe reported me they ordered me to be lock inside the prison yard for weeks and they denied me access to my wife and children including close associates.
In other to achieve his self-center agenda two weeks after they moved me to NDLEA custody at Rikkos for further questioning, they kept me for one month and my situation became worse when the news of the death of my grandmother was broken to me.
However, I then applied to go and visit my parents over the demise of my grandmother, which I was granted, but they continued fake allegations, saying I abandoned work, an accusation that is not true, but a complete frame up to dismiss me from service.
Kwalpung stressed that he was arraigned before justice Dorcas Agishi of Federal High Court NO1, for alleged drugs connection which adding that since childbirth, he has not taken anything alcoholic and I don’t have a record of criminality to any of the crimes they’re linking me to it.
He appealed to the comptroller of the correctional center in Nigeria to come to his rescue as they are paying him half his salary, which was stopped around January 2021 and his health conditions are gradually getting worse.
Kwalpung said with his present condition he can’t take care of the family as he only depends on friends and close relations for survival and his children can’t go to school under his present challenge.
