A non-governmental organization, BELLS Initiative has distributed food to over 1,000 families in Ofatedo, a community in Osun State.
The food items such as rice, beans, garri and others were distributed to beneficiaries including widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and families living in conditions of extreme hardship.
For many of the recipients, it was not their first encounter with the initiative because BELLS Initiative has been running community outreach programmes for several years, steadily building trust and a presence among the people.
The founder, Mr Femi Lanlehin said BELLS Initiative operates with a mission grounded in compassion and community.
He said the BELLS Initiative’s work includes health and well-being, poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, digital inclusion, and humanitarian relief.
Femi Lanlehin noted that the efforts are aimed at creating what it describes as “a sustainable, inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
In a statement reflecting on the campaign, Mr. Lanlehin reaffirmed the values that drive the organisation’s work.
According to him “When I founded this organisation, it was with a simple, yet profound vision: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
“Our work is a reflection of the values we hold dear – empathy, integrity, and an unbridled passion for making the world around us better”, Lanlehin said.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organization and its founder for the gesture and prayed for God’s blessings and protection for him.
One of the beneficiaries simply identified as Mama Kemi lauded BELLS Initiative for its commitment to the welfare of the people.
She said “They always come back. They have not forgotten us. The food distribution to people in ofatedo was more than a charity exercise — it was, for many families, a moment of dignity restored. The queues were long, but the atmosphere was orderly and warm.
“Volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that every family received their share and elderly beneficiaries were attended to with particular care”, she added..
Another beneficiary who preferred condition of anonymity while commending BELLS Initiative said even though such interventions might not solve people’s problems overnight but they ease the immediate burden, and they remind the people that they have not been forgotten.
BELLS Initiative’s footprint in Osun State continues to grow. The organisation works across multiple thematic areas and has, by its own records, impacted thousands of lives through its campaigns over the years.
Alongside its humanitarian work, the initiative has also partnered with state government agencies to deepen its reach and impact in communities across the state.
