The women arrested with fake money in Jigawa

A tip-off for Police officers in Birnin KuduLGA has yielded in the arrest of a pregnant woman named Ruqayya Rabi’u, the 40-year-old woman from Bichi LGA of Kano State was caught with one hundred pieces of fake N1000 notes and seventy-six pieces of fake N500 notes making a total of fake one hundred and eight naira notes.
The woman was arrested after she bought a body lotion of N300 at Birnin kudu market and upon notice of the fake notes by the traders, they alerted the Police, who went after the woman immediately and arrested her.
After the arrest, the Police recovered the fake notes from the woman and she confessed that the money was given to her by one Hajiya Ladidi in Bichi LGA of Kano whose address is not known to her.
The suspect woman said Ladidi asked her to go to Birnin Kudu and buy grains with the money so that they will share the dividends.
Upon further interrogation by the Police, she confessed that she was fully aware that the money was fake; however, she needed money as her husband has abandoned her with three children for the past six months and left to an unknown destination.
The Police Spokesman man said the case is under investigation as efforts are being made to arrest the remaining suspect.
