The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed that it will prosecute a truck driver involved in an accident that killed many easter celebrants in Billiri local government area.
In a statement signed by the Police spokesperson, ASP Abdullahi Buhari, the command confirmed that a thorough investigation has been carried out and the driver has been charged in court.
Recall that on Monday, 21st April, a group of Christians were rammed into by a trailer truck in Billiri while in procession for Easter celebrations.
The incident which claimed 5 lives and injured 8 others stirred chaos amongst youth in the community leading to the burning of the trailer and an attack on some Police officers in the community.
The driver, identified as Usman Muhammad, 28 has been charged with inconsiderate driving and causing death by dangerous driving.
The command appreciated the public who were supportive during the incident adding that further update will be relayed as the legal process unfolds.
