The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police has paraded no fewer than 30 syndicates for committing various crimes of conspiracy, culpable homicide, rape, and murder including a female trafficker who allegedly stole an Eighth months old baby girl (Nora Joshua ) of Ungwan Nasarawa Gwom of Jos North Local Government Council of   Plateau State.

The Commissioner of Plateau, CP Okoro Alawari while Parading the suspect before newsmen alongside 27 others on Monday at the command’s headquarters in Jos, commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the support given to the security personnel in crime fighting in the state, adding the crackdown on criminal elements is a continue exercise that he promised the citizens of the state of ensuring crime free.

However, CP Julius Okoro said the suspect was a flatmate of the victim’s (Nora Joshua ) parents who had enjoyed a cordial relationship when the mother allowed her to stay with her.

He said that the suspects paraded for various crimes, today as a result of hard work recorded by the command as the  CP Okoro told Journalists that they were arrested at different locations within the shortest period of his assumption of office about a month ago.

Meanwhile, the suspected human trafficker who stole the baby, during an interview with Journalists argued that she didn’t take the baby away from the parents with bad intentions; that was why she reported herself to the police in Lagos where she took the baby to, and subsequently returned her to Jos and again reported herself to the police.

Although the Police in Plateau State who paraded the woman on Monday, September 4, said she was arrested, the woman who is a mother of two insisted she turned herself in having realized that leaving Jos with the baby whom she claims she “loves very much” was wrong.

According to her, “I had no bad intention when I left with the baby, the mother of the baby is my friend and I love the baby so much. I did not tell the mother because I knew she would not agree so I had to go with the baby.

While in Lagos, I was always calling, chatting, or doing video calls with the mother showing her how the baby was doing but because it was circulated on social media that I stole the baby, I had to go to the police in Lagos, they directed me on what to do so when I arrived Jos, the Police here pick me up at the park. I came back on my own, I was not arrested.”

The baby’s mother who was seen cuddling her baby at the State Police headquarters expressed joy that she is reunited with her baby.

She said, “We are living in the same compound and working in the same shop, she has been playing with the baby but the day she left with her, she did not inform me. When I insisted, she return my baby, she said she just loved to stay with the baby. She took care of the baby but I did not permit her to go with her and I am happy to have my baby back.”

CP Okoro revealed that his administration has launched a manhunt on all criminal elements in the State, and he will ensure that they are flushed out.

The Police chief paraded a gang of four kidnappers led by one Salisu Adamu, who whisked away seven Students of the University of Jos recently.

Another gang of kidnappers who collected a ransom of 4.5 million Naira from a victim in Enugu State were also paraded the same Monday, with five expert criminals who specialized in stealing Transformers and other electrical installations.

CP Okoro thanked Plateau citizens for volunteering information to the police, which led to the arrest of most of the suspects paraded.

The Commissioner of Police said the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution upon completion of investigations by the police.
