Police In Imo Officially Launched “Operation Puff Adder” Against Kidnappers, Armed Robbers, Cultists

The officers of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, Imo State Police Command ably led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Ladodo, has officially launched what the command tagged as ” Operation Puff Adder” as part of fighting against kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and some other social vices.

 

The launching ceremony which took place on Tuesday, April 30th 2019 at the premises of the State Police Command Headquarters Owerri, attracted Inspector General of Police, IGP,Muhammed Adamu Abubakar, NPM, MMO, who was ably represented by the Imo Commissioner of Police, CP Ladodo Rabiu.

 

In an address presented, the Imo CP, Ladodo, said the operation was the direction given by the IGP to all the State CP’s to do the same operation in their respective areas (States in Nigeria) as part of social responsibilities so as to eradicate or minimize crimes in their respective jurisdictions.

 

“Launching of Operation Puff Adder is to curb all incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism as well as other violent crimes in all nooks and crannies of Imo State”,Ladodo submitted.

 

He therefore charged all Police Area Commanders,Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Team Commanders to be very proactive in carrying out their security professional duties and as such get ready and prepared for the operational order.

 

“So I charged you the police to puff adder, puff up or inflate your body when threatened or ready to strike. I also enjoined you to puff up or swallow, ambush and in most cases, strike out all criminals in Imo”,Ladodo encouraged.

 

The CP moreso told the police to ensure that the conduct of men deployed must conform with the following rules of engagement:” Officers must work in tandem with Force Order 237,officers must ensure strict and ensure that justice prevails at all times. The operation must be intelligence led with proper surveillance and strict monitoring and supervision. Intensive stop and search to be carried out along the highways. Intensive vehicular and foot patrols to be carried out as the case may be.Constant and effective raid of identified criminal hideouts and black spots.Officers involved in this operation to be armed with firearms and teargas and also,the officers must eschew corruption in its entirety as any culprit will be severely dealt with”.

 

Furthermore,the Imo CP called on Imolites to partner with the police in the provision of using information that will assist the Command in the course of the assignment of fighting against crime,even the CP advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to avoid crime and criminality as the Command is determined more than ever to rid Imo State of crime and criminality.

 

Ladodo,called for the understanding of cooperation of members of the public as it is an operation that will usher in a safer and more secured Imo State where economic activities will thrive.

 

Some respected dignitaries from across the state in attendance include the Imo State Governor,Rochas Okorocha,who was represented by the Imo Deputy Governor Designate,Sir.Calistus Ekenze, the heads of Imo Security Agencies such as the Military,DSS,Civil Defence and some Traditional Rulers,amongst whom includes: HRH Barr.Goodhead O.Ariaga,(Nzeobi 1 of Egbeama) in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State and some LGA Chairmen including: that of Owerri West,Hon.Chidi Ordu aka Madoka,and some Honourable Members of SPO Mess.

 

Other dignitaries present are: Hon.Comr.B.C Nwachukwu,CEO/owner of  Oyom Football Club and Oyom Rentals (Dealers of Exclusive Rental Materials/Services),the Imo State of Police Community Relation Committee,PCRC,Chief Val Ogbuefi Amafili,the State Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers,NURTW,Hon.Izuchukwu Okebara aka Bora,with the NURWT State Treasurer,Hon.Samuel Ude,and other members of the society who graced the launching ceremony.

 

Adding his voice,the Imo Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO,Chief Orlando G.Ikeokwu,expressed delight for the security successes so far recorded by the command,even as he called on the Press to always support the Police with their media capacity.

 

Chief Orlando enjoined the media not continue their partnership towards the fight against crimes in Imo State in particular and Nigeria in general.
