Police Demands For Cash As Bail Condition,” Kept 34 Suspects In One Cell”

About thirty four, 34, persons suspected to have committed various crimes were arrested and locked at the A Division opposite the Plateau State Command headquarters during enforcement of covid-19 total lockdown in plateau state without social distances.

 

One of the suspects, who confirmed to our medium on Thursday, said on Wednesday they were at least 38 people kept in Police custody but four of the suspects raised alarm over the order of lack of ventilation and congestion so they were rushed to Mobile court at Yan Gauyi.

 

You would recalled that the police are saddle with the responsibility right to enforcement the order of restricting the gathering of people numbering to 10 inside one cell but the allow up 38 people to kept in one cell.

 

According to our source, the police were demanding for 100k, 10k as bail condition were those who meet the discharge conditions are already home.

 

One of the victims, Mallam Nasiru Mohammad told our medium that he was arrested and brought to A Division on last Saturday for a Lexus Jeep three of them sold to one buyer who transfer fake bank alert into his account.

 

He says, the transaction which amounted to the sum of 3.8 Million naira, and the guy duped them with the fake bank alert provide them with fake information about himself pretending he was an Airforce officer.

 

Mohammad added the other suspect had already been released on bail condition while they still languishing here inside cell all because we can’t afford bail fees requested by the Nigeria Police command.

 

The Command PPRO ,DSP  Ubah Gabriel Agaba told our medium that the bail condition is still free ,that the papers on his desk are list of defaulters who flout the order of total lockdown in plateau state and they are before mobile court.

 

He explained further that the police have not demand for anyone of the suspect to pay for his bail; however, those who meet the conditions are already home.

 

When to know why Nasiru Mohammad was still in police cell when the prime suspect had already been granted bail fees for paying 100k, he denied having knowledge of the case.

 

They 34 persons risk contacting the pandemic of close contact and lack of distancing order of the federal, state government enforcement order.

 

They complained bitterly that their fundamental right has been breached under the present Democratic government to keep them in one cell like animals.
