Police Arrest Three Suspected Armed Robbers In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating in the Alakuko area of the state.

The Police made this known in a statement issued by the command and shared on its official X account on Thursday.

The suspects were identified as Faruk Rasheed, 20; Olamilekan Ademola, 28; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21.

According to the statement, the suspects were tracked and arrested by operatives of the command following credible intelligence on the activities of the alleged criminal syndicate.

The command said the arrests were part of its sustained efforts to tackle armed robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes across Lagos State.

It added that preliminary investigation showed that the suspects allegedly specialised in snatching vehicles and dispossessing residents of their valuables.

The police said a search conducted on the suspects after their arrest led to the recovery of three locally made firearms and eight rounds of live ammunition.

The statement read, “A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.”

The command said the three suspects were currently in police custody, while investigation into their alleged activities continued.

It added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate who were still at large.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.

Fatai said, “The command remains unwavering in its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.”

The commissioner further called on residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies to the police.

He urged members of the public to use the command’s emergency lines, stressing the importance of public cooperation in the fight against crime.
