The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has uncovered a startling twist in the investigation of a man whose body was dumped under the Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway in Abuja . According to official police reports, the deceased allegedly passed away during an intimate encounter with a married woman in a hotel room located within the Gwarimpa district. Rather than reporting the sudden death to the relevant authorities, individuals involved chose to secretly relocate the corpse to the highway to evade suspicion.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi , disclosed these details on Saturday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters regarding the mystery surrounding the abandoned body. He clarified that the discovery of the remains had initially triggered intense speculation among residents and local media, with many attributing the incident to a violent “one chance” highway robbery or a kidnapping gone wrong. However, meticulous tracking of the deceased’s last known phone activities eventually redirected the focus of the investigation away from the roadside crime scene and straight to the guest house.

Prior to the grim discovery under the bridge, the victim’s family had officially reported him missing to the police after failing to establish contact with him. Investigators ultimately linked the missing person report to the lifeless body found by the roadside at approximately 9:00 a.m. on August 26. The command has since taken the married woman into custody alongside two hotel staff members who allegedly assisted in transporting and dumping the body to distance the establishment from the tragedy.

According to the FCT Police Command briefing, forensic and digital investigations successfully traced the deceased’s last known contact to Mrs. Rukayat Muhammed, a resident of Garki Area 2. Police intelligence established that Muhammed, a married woman, was involved in an extramarital relationship with the victim. To conceal the illicit nature of their connection, she had cleverly disguised his identity on her mobile device, saving his contact number under the female alias “Safiyat”.

The logistics of their final encounter were exposed when investigators discovered that the pair had checked into the Good Samaritan Guest House , a lodging facility situated on 2nd Avenue in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja. It was during their stay in the hotel room that the clandestine rendezvous took a fatal turn. Muhammed later confessed to interrogators that she suddenly realized her lover had stopped breathing and had passed away right beside her.

Panicked by the grim discovery and desperate to avoid a public scandal, the suspect chose not to alert the lodge management or contact law enforcement. Instead, she removed the deceased’s mobile phone from the room, quietly exited the premises, and later switched off the device to sever any digital trail. However, FCT Police Commissioner Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi noted that this missing phone ultimately became the critical breakthrough for operatives. By analyzing network data and tracking the final communications transmitted from the victim’s line, detectives were able to pierce through the cover-up and apprehend the suspect.

“The trail led to one Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2, who was found to be in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact on her phone under the name ‘Safiyat,’” he said.

The commissioner said the woman informed investigators that she had discovered the deceased was no longer breathing and had died.

He added that several hours later, after attempts by hotel management to contact the occupants proved unsuccessful, access was gained into the room, where the body was found.

Sanusi said two members of the hotel management, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, subsequently removed the body from the room and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway near the Katampe under-bridge.

According to the police, the two suspects subsequently discarded the victim’s body along the highway in a calculated attempt to shield the lodging facility and its management from legal scrutiny and public scandal.

“Our investigation revealed that, instead of reporting the discovery to the Police, two members of the hotel management identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus subsequently removed the body from the room and transported it to Kubwa Expressway by Katampe under-bridge, where they dumped it by the roadside,” Sanusi said.

The discovery had triggered fear among residents, with initial reports and commentaries linking the incident to “one chance” robbery and kidnapping.

Sanusi, however, said the command refused to rely on assumptions and commenced a detailed investigation after the victim’s family reported him missing.

He said investigators eventually established that the man found under the bridge was the same person whose disappearance had been reported by his family.

The commissioner stressed, however, that the exact cause and circumstances of the deceased’s death remained under investigation.

“Let me make it clear that investigations are still ongoing. The exact cause and circumstances of the deceased’s death are still under investigation,” he said.

FCT Police Commissioner Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi emphasized that additional forensic and investigative measures are being actively pursued to fully unravel the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.

“Anyone found to have played a role in the death or subsequent concealment and abandonment of the body will be made to face the law,” he warned.

Furthermore, Commissioner Sanusi issued a stern warning to the public against withholding vital information or tampering with ongoing criminal investigations, emphasizing that the full weight of the law will be brought down on anyone found complicit in such activities.
