Police Arrest Man For Rape, Burglary in Lagos

The Police command in Lagos State has arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly burgling a flat and raping a 47-year-old woman.

Command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to journalists on Monday in Lagos.

He said it occurred around 3:00 a.m. on March 26 in the Ikotun area of the state.

According to Hundeyin, the victim reported the matter at the Ikotun Police Division.

She alleged the suspect broke into her room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

Her cries reportedly drew the attention of a neighbour who came to her aid.

The suspect allegedly attacked the neighbour with a sharp object, injuring his forehead.

A patrol team was promptly deployed to the scene and arrested the suspect.

Both the victim and injured neighbour were taken to hospital for treatment.

The police spokesperson said an investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
