Plateau Youth Council Cautions On Violent Attack On Governor Simon Lalong

Following the constant harassment, killings of innocent motorists and travelers on highways in Jos South, Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, the Plateau Youth Council have cautioned parents, guardians to warn their youth to stop incessant attacks and killing of Nigerians.

 

The Chairman, Plateau State Youth Council, Fabong Jemchang Yildam said the leadership of the Youth are shocked over the unfortunate attack on Governor Simon Lalong which is highly condemnable and regrettable action for a chief security officer will be attacked while on condolences visit over the plight of internally displaced persons.

 

According to him, the manner some of our youths have subjected themselves to be used by some desperate politicians or ethnic agenda to score selfish ambitions is questionable.

 

Yildam, gave this warning at a Press conference in Jos on Sunday at Dadin Kowa Youth center express regret over youth who have resorted to blackmail.

 

He reminded that the first attack was the vandalization of administration headquarters little Rayfield, while the second was attacked on the convoy of Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong after a visit to the Internally Displaced peoples Camp at the GeoSciences, Anguldi, Zawan on Saturday 14 July 2018, adding that is not justifiable.

 

He said action is an assault to the entire people of the state, and not just to the governor, staying, “it is a clear demonstration of disrespect for the highly placed seat of the governor and the way people of Plateau state.

 

“The well planned and much-orchestrated attacks probably with external linkages have further weakened the ongoing confidence building process despite the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, hoodlums have attempted to create panic by choosing high profile targets such as the convoy of the governor”.

 

He said the ugly occurrence is threatening to take the state back and create a sense of terror and will be resisted with stiffness.

 

“We call on the government to step up proactive measures to be ensured that these hoodlums are brought to book, and should not renege on its primary responsibility of securing lives and properties “.

 

He appeals to citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious moves around them, so as to move the state forward devoid of violence.
