Plateau PDP Crisis Deepens As Sheriff, Makarfi Factions In The State Drags Each Other To Court Over Quest For Chairmanship Tussle

Yakubu Busari

Two factions of the People Democratic Party have dragged themselves to court over who is the authentic and recognized leadership in Plateau state between Sen Ali Modu Sheriff and Sen. Ahmed Makarfi.

As gathered by this medium, the group led by Hon. Gyang Badung Pam has said, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff is the only genuine and recognized leader of the party in Nigeria after the Appeal Court judgment.

He said the stakeholders’ meeting across the 17 Local Governments and Wards has familiarized themselves with the authentic EXCO, under the leadership of the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Alli Modu Sheriff.

Badung pointed out the main purpose of soliciting the cooperation of all stakeholders in the state is to operate an open door policy of transparency and accountability to avoid impunity, imposition of candidates of the past government of Senator Jonah David Jang who made use of power to victimized most of them for indicating their interest to contest.

“We invited all our stakeholders here today to disseminate vital information down to the grassroots on the forthcoming local government elections in the state “he explained.

A Court bailiff brought a notice that Sen. Ali Sheriff has been dragged to Court by Hon. D. T. Sango, few hours after a programme of sensitization was organized for the PDP stakeholders in the state by the Badung led EXCO.

Our correspondent gathered that the Legal process was served on Hon. Badung and his EXCO through the PDP State Legal Adviser, Barr. Nancwat N. Durven, who in turn signed for them.

“We are being dragged to court by Sango. He said we are disturbing him and his EXCO, with the efforts we are putting in the chapter to bring the party back the party to the people”, Hon. Emmanuel Macham, the State Publicity Secretary stated

Information available to this  medium  indicates that the matter would be coming up this Thursday at the JMDB Court in Jos, Plateau State.
