The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, harped on the unity of the People Democratic Party, PDP, for the state return power in the 2023 general election, as he said religious differences had never been a problem of the citizens, this is as the Universal Reporters, apologized to  Ex-Governor Jang on the story it did on him stating that he narrowly escaped collapse during the trial in court.

The retraction and apology followed the report credited to this medium during the proceedings on Tuesday and want the general public to note.

Wike stormed the Plateau State High No 4 in solidarity in  Court to the alleged 6.3 billion Naira fraud where a former Governor of the state, Jonah Jang is standing trial of misappropriation of public funds during tenure in office.

Wike explained the unity of this country is sacrosanct, so nobody divides people on the grounds of tribal or religious affiliation, we are all one people.

Jang is standing trial alongside Yusuf Pam, an ex-cashier in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, on alleged N6.3bn fraud charges brought before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The two accused persons were first arraigned before Justice Daniel Longji in March 2018 on 17 counts bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds but they had since pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The case is currently before Justice Christy Dabup who started hearing on the matter afresh following the retirement of Justice Longji in December 2019, after hearing the matter 34 times.

Wike, clad in a dark blue suit with a white shirt underneath, arrived at the court premises at 9:50 am in company with other Peoples Democratic Party chieftains and moved straight to the courtroom where the trial was already in progress.

On the alleged fraud, Wike explained that the former is a man of integrity and he promised to support us, we should work as a team to clinch power in 2023.

He stated that the incessant attacks and killings in Plateau state are unnecessary, we have learned to live together as brothers and sisters no matter the conditions we found ourselves.

Wike emphasized the need to respect each other, so prosecuting the former governor is not the solution to the problem of the plateau people.
