The perennial water  scarcity has hit the Plateau State capital as residents scramble in search of any  available sources of drinking water in most of the dry well .

Our medium gathered that a gallon of 20 liters, is now sold  between 60 to 70 naira per galon by the  water vendors selling the water in all the communities in the state .

The residents of Gimbi in Wase ,LGA also  raiswd alarm that they are forced by the present situation to struggle with animals in the same  streams where  all the sources are dry .

The Water Board ,and the ministry of water resources are no longer pumping water through Yakubu Gowon Dam and Lamingo dam,  all the water supply has been cut off completely from the state .

The residents are now lamenting the hardship caused by the water board who refused to supply water to the citizens ,as the challenges bit harder  .

The Jenta Adamu ,Mangoro  ,Kabong ,Angwan Rukuba ,Tudun Wada are most affected areas where residents are complaining of not getting water for the past two months and their only source of drinking water,  is the available  well which  are already  dried up completely .

The community leaders are now begging the Governor Simon Bako Lalong administration to help reduce the difficulty faced by the families especially with the rising cost of foodstuffs in the market .

Speaking with Mrs Yakubu Wuyep in Jenta Adamu ,she said they’re passing through economic difficulty but its appear the state government is not doing enough to cushion the effect of this situation .

We woke up very early around 4am to go about searching for drinking water so by the time you get one gallon of water your tired already and we don’t have money to buy it from the truck pushers .

However, she explained the lack of money to buy water because the prizes of Jerrycan is now 60 to 70 naira and most family can’t afford buying it .

We are appealing to water board to supply water to all the surrounding communities,  we are suffering ,we can’t take our  bath including also devastated road in Jenta Adamu, Mangoro bridge there is no accessible road .

The people of Jenta Adamu ward are calling on the Local Government Chairman ,Hon .Shehu Usman Bala to come to their rescue to complete the ongoing road construction because it has caused untold  hardship ,even cars are finding difficult to pass through the untarred road .

All effort to speaking to the PRO Plateau State Water Board ,Mr Nangor  Ndam proved abortive as his line was switched off at the time of filing in this story.

Meanwhile, the people of Gimbi community of Wase Local Government Council are also complaining of not getting water to drink .

They are saying all their sources of drinking water had dried and they’re not receiving attention from the local authority to supply them with water .

What some of them told our medium is that the unbearably situation had continued to bring them to the threat of outbreak of water borne diseases .
