How Plateau Govt, My Father’s Relatives Neglected Us When Our Father Was Killed In Coup-J D Gomwalk’s Son
The Son of first governor of Benue/Plateau, Police Commissioner Joseph Dimka Gomwalk has said that Plateau State Government and his father’s relatives neglected them to suffer untold hardship during the military coup of Dimka which his father died, a coup in which he was alleged to be involved.
The son who is now a Clergy Pastor Dunka Gomwalk revealed that ,he met Chris as a result of campus life when live became unbearable to them as family; speaking he said; “so I turned myself to serve God but I never knew God wanted to use the Church to transform my eternal life.”
“While in the campus I was a member of Christian Students fellowship just for the fun of it, I discover that God has accepted me so that he can use me as an instrument to deliver many.
“The circumstances that led to our fathers’ dead kept disturbing us in spite of the positive thing our father was able to do even as nobody recognizes his contribution.
My father dead made of us orphans in this world, including our father’s relatives that forgot that we exist on this earth.”
“We grew up in government house in 1976 when plateau was carved out of the then Benue- Plateau, the good works of this noble character who is a lover of plateau project as his legacies and structures has been abandoned by successive administration as most of the work done is either in a dilapidated stage or left to rot.”
Dunka Gomwalk who disclosed these to Journalists in an interview at his office described how his father’s legacies have been abandoned by successive administration.
He maintained that Plateau during his late father was created with a mind set to develop and move forward the progress of the state by meeting the yearning and aspiration of the middle belt to serve as a voice to all of them.
He expressed surprise at what has been done compared to what is expected to be put on ground. Although the present administration of Governor Simon Lalong has tried to balance the situations in governance as the state is witnessing a dramatic change in terms of meeting the people’s expectation.
Gomwalk disclosed that Plateau state now 40 has gone through so many transformations as the state can boost of good infrastructural development, policy framework, traditional institutions has been established, increase in revenue base and change in structural beautification with all these on ground it shows that the state has move forward.
According to him, Plateau will be better if successive administration continue from where each other stopped in governance, and follow the blueprint already laid on ground.
Speaking further on his calls to ministry which he admitted that its came as a result of some of the challenges he went through in life, “as a family we were neglected and abandoned by family members immediately after the death of our great father in a coup, but thanked God that today God has taken charge as Covenant Christian Word International (CCWI) was established 12 years ago through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and today is doing wonderfully and my wife is a partner in the ministry with my 3 lovely daughters.
The Pastor urged the people of Plateau to embrace Christ as he is the key to bringing out the best in them and called on the government to redouble its efforts toward providing the needed and dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
