Plateau Ex-Deputy Speaker Suit Adjourns To 28th January For Continuation

A Federal High Court sitting In Jos, Plateau State Capital on Thursday has adjourned to 28th January, 2019 for continuation of hearing and to enable the 1st defendant counsel serve additional process in accordance with the rules of law.

At the opening of defense, the former deputy Speaker Rt Hon Ibrahim Baba-Hassan who is the defense principal witness to the suit as the first defendant told the court that he has adopted his statements on oaths dated 6th December, 2019 before the honourable court.

His counsel ,SAN ,Solomon Umoh brought a fresh application to further assist the court invite the police IPO who earlier handle the case and was now transfer to serve the Nigeria Police Force in Port-Hicourt command,adding his witness statement would be very valid to background of this matter .

He said the prayers if granted will not only help him but that can help him supin another officer which is already filed in the motion presented to this court as evidence prove .

Meanwhile, Counsel to the Plaintiff ,Barr. D C  .Ibeawuchi objected to the application of the defendant counsel saying they are not ready to conceal to the adjournment because PW1 additional witness on oath has not been concluded and if the second application is been granted will definitely defeat the main aim of them approaching the court for justice.

The counsel to the 2nd defendant ,Former NBA Chairman ,Ledak Dafer told the court that ,no objection to the application of the 1st defendant counsel ,SAN ,Solomon Umoh prayers .

According to him ,this matter before the honourable court is a case that need substantial documentary prove of evidence, adding ,if that is not allow who will cross examine him the police IPO in charge of the matter.

Also ,the counsel to the 3rd defendant ,Hajiya Nafida Mohammed said she left her position on discretion of the court take decision .

Justice ,Musa Kurya earlier cautioned the Former Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Ibrahim Baba-Hassan under section 206 of the evidence act that if he give any wrong evidence before the honourable court he would punish for contempt of the law and for misleading the court .

He said based on the interest of justice he decided to grant the defendant counsel SAN, Solomon Umoh prayers and the matter was adjourned.

However, the former Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Ibrahim Baba-Hassan was ask to stand down pending the court resume hearing on 28th January, 2019.
