Plateau: Dept. Gov. Sues For Peaceful Coexistence In Southern Zone

Deputy Governor of Plateau State Ambassador Ignatius Longjan has asked the People of Southern Senatorial district of Plateau State to sheath their swords and embrace peaceful coexistence.
Ambassador Longjan who made this call during a meeting summoned by him to address stakeholders in the zone, at the meeting which was held at the Shendam local government area, he also challenged them to look into the root and immediate cause    of the recent civil unrest that claimed several lives and properties in order to call for a lasting solution.
It would be recall that last week suspected Fulani gunmen stormed and attacked peasant farmers in Bolgan, Karkashi and Magama villages of Langtang South Local Government Areas Plateau State leaving over 48 People dead several others wounded and houses burnt.

He explains that the meeting was convened due to the urgency of the issue in order to fast tracks issues such as means of finding possible ways of restoring lasting peace in the affected areas.

Briefing Journalists shortly after the close door meeting, Longjan stated that government was deeply worried and called on the people to be law abiding and not to allow peace elude them again.

He stated that government has already commenced communication with the Emergency Relief management Agency so that they could come to the rescue of the victims of the unfortunate incident by providing relief materials to them.
